Do you think they will ever reset 2x2 world records? Unlike 3x3, the records are very unreasonable. If they reset the world records then there would less sub 1's and people would still have a chance to get a world record in it. I know 2x2 singles are stupid, but this could be an annual solution. Maybe have a reset every year and have a second 2x2 single record called "2x2 record of the year" or something. 2x2 is just getting stupid now, and I think we should come up with a solution to this. anyway, congrats Daniel!

Welp, perhaps. Maybe they should do this for all events, but I do agree that this is especially stupid for records like 2x2.

The only problem with this is that in a lot of events, the record is reasonable like Feliks could easily get the world record back in 3x3, but in 2x2 you can't easily get a sub-1. The only ones that are like 2x2 is clock, FMC, and maybe OH. If they reset those records, the world record holders can't get those back next competition.

Just by competing, you have the same chance as everyone else as getting an easy scramble. If it really matters to someone, they can practice 4/5-move scrambles at home on a stackmat timer and keep attending competitions until you that sort of scramble turns up.

It's not a problem if a record is hard to beat. It just means people should do better to beat it.

Ya was watching there, am so sad because I was in 25th place in 2x2 Round 1 and the top 24 move on, so I left early, but someone dropped out so I would have made finals.

I didn't want to start a flame war, but 2x2 singles are getting almost impossible to beat, and eventually some people will not want to do it because of this reason.

2x2 single is easy comparing to SQ-1, MBLD, Clock single, Skewb single, FM single, OH single and pyraminx single.

Actually, when I come to think of all these people faster that me must have some type of advantage or we would have the same time. Just reset their singles and averages to mine so we're all on a level playing field.

Even with a reset everyone would still know the actual world record so their would be no point to it.

If people are going to not compete in an event just because they can't get world record... Oh wait people don't do that because that's stupid.

Even if every countries nr becomes a sub 1.4 avg and a sub .5 single, there's still other reasons to compete, like making a podium or getting a pb or maybe, just maybe, for fun.
