after watching this video of a guy who had modified a 3x3x3 cube into a (4) layer cylinder cube, I just had to make one to see that 3d effect on my own.
basically its just an extension of one face so you got dobble lenth of that side's pieces. so the last layer cant really move.
he had taken the time and reshaped the pieses so they all complete the cylinder form when completed. wich is very impressive and fun puzzle. plus his color scheme is circles of colors for each layer.
I made mine a little simplier. I just took a spare cube and extra cubies and cut them square.. and just super glued them on there.
the result is a "3d orientation cube"
I must say that its a little akward to solve it and handle those extra pieces. but its fun to watch them move around the cube when you do OLL or PLL algs.
does anyone here mod cubes like this?
