sorry if this in the wrong section?

well, i'v bought a new cube, lubed it and its really smooth. one problem...
it's still really tight and i cant cut corners, like, at all.

how do get rid of this? is it just a case of working it in?
MYKE...

some cubes won't allow you to do this. They will get better as you use the cube, but it really just depends on the cube. I saw a video of one guy playing with his DIY cube and that one cut corners very well though, maybe you want to try one of those...

Can someone get a video of cutting corners? There aren't any on YouTube and I want to compare to see how good mine is (I think it's terrible, it's not DIY)

When i first started cubing i didn't notice anything with my cube. After a couple of months of cubing a lot, i did notice that my cube was able to cut corners easily. After those couple of months, one of my friends bought a cube because i did. I put lubed the cube with silicon for him but i noticed that the cube could not cut corners easily :X.

In order for it to cut corners, you are going to have to use your cube a lot to wear it down.

Pff stop comparing cubes by Youtube, only in real life!!!

that guy from the video has an too loose cube, my OH cube cannot twist a corner like how that guy on the vid did.

besides if I am correct Thibaut Jacquinot and many other just use store bought cubes like Gilles van den Peereboom and his OH cube turns better then mine... no even better his cube turns like hmmm..... :)

Oh wow I must have gotten distracted before the end of the video I didn't see him twist the corners like that! My cube is a store bought and it can cut corners like that guys cube and I can twist my corners only it takes some force its not as easy as he did it...
but with a diy you can have it loose right away I've been using my store bought for awhile for it to be this loose. But I have never met another speedcuber in reallife to compare cubes with...
Edit: Ok I can twist the corners of my storebought cube like that...

Is cutting corners really a good practice to be doing when trying to speed solve? Surely it's not good for the cube or your technique....

It may take more practice to execute a move precisely before attempting the next move - without it jamming, but it's worth it.

If someone gives you a really crappy cube and says "Solve this in less than a minute.", well at least you've the technique to be able to do it without the necessity of a cube that allows "cutting corners". :-P
