How I started cubing:
I remember one day I found a Rubik's cube( the image is attached). I was hardly able to solve one colour at that time, so one day I took that cube and used WIRED'S tutorial to solve it. After trying like a million times I finally did it. I memorised how to make the daisy, first two layers and the yellow side.
It was very hard for me to learn the last layer but I finally got it.

Then I accidentally dropped my cube two stories down and broke it.

Cut to like 3 days later, i got a QiYi sail cube from Amazon. At that time the QiYi sail looked like all the cool speedcubes youcubers used in videos, hence making me the coolest person in school.

One day I accidentally removed an orange center piece sticker and lost it, then I kept on losing more and more pieces until the entire cube was just completely black without stickers.

Then I ordered a QiYi warrior w, and I didnt break it this time! Yay! I used that cube for about 2 years until I quit. After like a year I saw the QiYi Ms cubes. I remember watching tingmans and j perms video and being shocked about the fact that THERE WAS A CUBE with MAGNETS for like 8 DOLLARS!!!!!!

I then bought the QiYi Ms 2x2 and 3x3 and started cubing again.

Then I quit

And now I'm back, hopefully I won't quit again

Here’s mine (it’s also about how I started Cubing) so it started off on my birthday and your problay thinking oh he got a cube and learned how to solve it but I actually got a Lego set which I already had so I took it back to target and it was a 30$ Lego so my mom let me spend 30$ so I bought a drone and a rubix brand 3x3 I like just turning the cube but I never scrambled it and when I finally did I fell for the “2 move solve” thing like once or twice fast forward like 1 yearthen my brother took it to his play practice and he said some kid TOOK IT HOME without asking so is got stolen then for my next birthday I got the qiyi non magnetc 2x2 3x3 and Pyraminx I then figured that my friend could solve all but the Pyraminx so he would time himself on the cuz he didn’t have cubes and I started to learn 2x2 took like a week and I made like a paper with what each Alg does the after a bit I learned how to solve it I was slow like 1:30 for 2x2 but I got faster like 1 mount later I made the same kinda page for 3x3 and after like 2.5 weeks I learned me and my friend tried to learn pyra but we are dumb so we just do 3x3 and 2x2 I buy a 4x4 and I couldn’t solve it quite yet but I made a method for Pyraminx and I timed that I finnaly learned all but oll parity on 4x4 and than well

I quit and here I am now not a Cuber……Jk

After about 1 year I started Cubing again I relearned Ortega for 2x2 cfop for 3x3 and made force cubes i than started leading 4x4 quick I haven’t gotten to finishing to this day lol and got a 5x5 for Christmas I then started learning 1 look pll and then here I am
And along the way I obviously ungraded cubes

I know you didn’t read all that don’t pretend you did

My mom showed me to solve the cube she look on youtube and larned the same way you did and iv cubed ever since

I was reading a programming book that used the cube as an example of applied algorithms and that got me curious about solving one. I had one on my shelf that I'd scrambled and didn't solve so I started learning CFOP to learn how to solve it.

This hurt my definition of english.

So like in 4th grade there was my best friend who could solve it in like 2 min, and everyone thought he was so cool. Then like 2 years later another friend could solve it in a minute. At this point, I could only solve the white layer. Then I decided I wanted to beat my friends, so I learned the beginner's method from like 10 pm to 3 am, the next day I could do everything but my PLL. Then I was just cubing and messing around and I got a PLL skip and I was so happy. After that, I started the CFOP grind and demolished the competition. I was so proud of myself but no one cared. So that was my experience.

Cleaning the basement and throwing stuff into drawers when this really old cyclones boys cube I had a while ago fell out. I used to cube with my mom and I timed myself a few times around a minute, back when cubing was a fad at school. Originally, as someone with ocd should, was disturbed by the unsolved state and took it upon myself to relearn how to solve the cube. Then I got better and faster and started timing myself. I then got my first speedcube, the mg c (haha) elite, and from there on out I've been a cuber.

Let’s go, us ocd Cubers are the real deal

So I smashed a Gan 11 M pro. I hated it. Then I glued it back together. Then it was my main. The end.

Jk... So my actual story:
My family and I were on a trip in Seattle for a month back in 2019. Since I had good grades and whatnot, my mom allowed me to attend two camps: one for robotics, and another for game development, both at the Museum of Flight. Cut to the game development camp, I was just minding my own business when I heard someone turning a Rubik's cube. It was weird, like it didn't have any stickers, yet each side was colored plastic.
I decided to investigate, and asked him about the cube. He was all like, "Oh, yeah, I can solve it". This was the first day of camp, mind you. SO I had brought a puzzle of mine the next day. (It was a cube my mom got that I somehow obtained and brought to Seattle with me, don't ask) I asked him if he could solve it for me. The guy, Erza or whatever, did. Then I asked him if he could teach me. He said no, I might get mad at him and not understand or whatnot, blah blah blah. Little did he know.
So I sat at a table (Or a bus, since we were headed to a museum about computers/games/Pac-Man) and this guy, Nate, asked me if he could see my puzzle, currently scrambled. I agreed and gave it to him. He solved it. I was impressed. I asked him if he could show me how to solve it, and he agreed. So began the week of me learning the cube. And by the end of the week, I could solve the cube without any help.
During Thanksgiving, which I was at the peak of my solving with my garbage cube, relatives came over and I wanted to impress them with my puzzle. I did. One, however, was not impressed. His name is Joey, and he suggested that I get a new cube so that I could solve faster than before. We researched some puzzles, then I went back to solving with my own puzzle.
2nd week of December or so, I received a SpeedRipper from my Aunt and Uncle. It was a lot different from my own garbage cube. It was stickered, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. And that's how my speedcubing journey began.

I no longer have that cube, but I loved it a lot.

Back in high school, I was around 15 years old (holy crap was it really that long ago!) my best friend's family had a timeshare condo at the beach. Every year they'd get to spend a week down by the ocean. This year, I was invited to join the fun. Well, it just so happened that the week we had, also happened to be the week that a tropical depression decided to make its way up the east coast, our entire week was rained out. On our second day there, we made a trip to the local Barnes and Noble book store. I wasn't a big reader, so I was browsing around the store and a Rubik's Cube that included an instruction manual for solving it caught my eye. I debated on whether I should get it or not for a few minutes but finally caved in and spent the money. I spent the rest of the week learning the beginner's method that the book explained. By the end of the rainy vacation, I could solve the 3x3 on my own in about 3 minutes. I was hooked!

Here we are, over 15 years later. I've got a collection of over 100 different puzzles, all of which I can solve. Twisty puzzles have become one of my favorite hobbies, all thanks to a rained out week at the beach.

Not how I started cubing but funny nontheless

When I went to SGCC last month, I was sitting next to a sub-8 cuber about my age and I asked him to critique one of my solves (I'm about sub-18)
I was at PLL when I got F perm and did R' F R f' R' F R2 U R' U' R' F' R2 U R' S and the shocked look on his face is still imprinted in my mind today. He got some of his friends around (who were all better than me) and asked me to show my F perm. I executed it and they all looked shocked. I asked them what they used and they all showed the normal (R' U' F' into T perm than undo). I spent the next 15-30 minutes walking around the lecture theatre asking some friends how they execute a F perm and they all showed the T perm variant.
