CubicDB 2.1.3 is here

@isaacvr first of all, good job with the app! it is really useful and well made.

I liked the simulators a lot.

I have a request but maybe it wouldn't be that trivial to implement.

do you think you could implement "turntable" camera for the simulator instead of current "trackball" camera? it is really difficult to rotate the cube to the desirable angle with current camera.......

threejs has a native function that implement that, similar to Blender turntable camera. twistyjs also has that same camera and it is pretty standard and natural way of rotating 3d objects

again, good job on the project, you always have brilliant ideas!

I'm moving over, Cstimer just decided to randomly delete all of my solves a couple weeks back, and i didnt have any backup :(
Take into account that all the web apps make this depending on the needs of the browser. That's why in this case that happened to you. CubicDB have both a web version and a desktop version for Windows (for now) that it's persistent like any other software on the PC.

Are you planning to add weekly comp to the app?

Good work btw!
Thanks bro. The main goal of the app is to be almost fully offline. At some point I'll add a Contest section to make battles. There have been some progress on that, but I'm redesigning the whole thing to include better features and restructure some mechanisms to improve performance and user experience. It will be great.

Thanks a lot for your feedback on the app. Yes, ThreeJS have this kind of control over the camera and it's quite easy to implement (couple lines of code). The issue with that approach can be if you are using cubes like the Megaminx. It's a very good feature request, thanks. I'll take it into account for the next update (that will be huge).

@isaacvr How can I backup solves on CubicDB? My PC reloaded today and I lost all my sessions on the site (around 1k solves approx.) This has happened before with CSTimer, but I think it's a me issue rather than a website issue. How can I make sure this doesn't happen again?

As @THE_V01DL0RD said, there's an option to export all your data. But, in the next update it should be an option to backup your data to Google Drive or another place, in order to have your data saved. Thanks.

I checked this out and wow i love this.
Im slightly worried about losing all my solves in the event of a reset or something, so for now ill stick with cube desk since that has accounts.
Ill definitely consider switching once the next update is out though.

I just have 3 questions.
1 - does this use the same scrambler as wca solves ? Twizzle.net i believe. Just cause i hate it when i open a session or something and it comes up with U D' L R' F B' for a scramble.

2 - whats this mean in settings ?

AoX calculation : group of x solves.

What does it mean by group of x solves ?

3 - Lastly, would it be better to add a login system so solves are saved to the account ? This might already exist, idk tho.

Greatly appreciated your feedback. There's a lot of work to do on this app and I'm just only one person, but every opinion has an important place because this is for you guys. Let me answer your questions:

1- No, it doesn't use the exact same scrambler that uses the WCA (TNoodle). It uses the same method to generate scrambles, so you'll have a very high quality scrambles. In fact, is the same scrambler of CSTimer with little differences.

2- For the Ao5, Ao12, Ao50 and in general, AoX (where X is the amount of consecutive solves) you have the stats on the bottom left/right of the screen. There are two ways to make that calculation. The sequential way is to take any X consecutive solves and run the calculation. The second one that is using groups, will give you the result only if the amount of solves is a multiple of X. Consider this scenario:

Solve 1, Solve 2, Solve 3, ...., Solve 100.

For the Ao5, you will have:

Solve 1: N/A (there are not 5 yet)
Solve 2: N/A (there are not 5 yet)
Solve 3: N/A (there are not 5 yet)
Solve 4: N/A (there are not 5 yet)
Solve 5: ## (first Ao5)
Solve 6: ## (second Ao5)
Solve 7: ## (third Ao5)

and so on. Now with groups:

Solve 1: N/A (there are not 5 yet)
Solve 2: N/A (there are not 5 yet)
Solve 3: N/A (there are not 5 yet)
Solve 4: N/A (there are not 5 yet)
Solve 5: ## (first Ao5)
Solve 6: N/A (there are not other 5 yet)
Solve 7: N/A (there are not other 5 yet)
....
Solve 10: ## (second Ao5)

And so on.

3- Yes, totally right, adding a login system let you save your solves to your account, but there are some things you may consider. First, the web version is just a shadow of the desktop version (I have to add the link inside the web), which is the big deal here. Second, this app is intended to work using the offline-first paradigm because one of the goals from myself is to provide a reference app that can be used offline, taking into account that I live in Cuba, a place with very limited internet so this is specially important for me. Third, to implement this I'll need a server that stores all the data from the clients and handles security. Fourth, at some point I'll do it, but it will be a long journey because having users is not in the top of priorities.

As I said at the beginning, there's a lot of work to do and this is a great moment for the speedcubing community, so thanks again for your comments and I'll keep answering all the questions that may come. This is a little screenshot of how the new version will looks like on the PC:
