I just decided to start using my old store bought cube as my main cube. I lubed it up like crazy and not only is it much sturdier than my DIY kit, it turns just as good. I'm going to get cubesmith tiles for the cube and I'm not sure whether to get textured or smooth ones. What should I get?

I've tried them both, and I prefer Smooth.
The smooth tiles is almost like the textured, but is a little finer. I think textured tiles has too much texture, they'r too rough.

Well, if Harris is using them I'd better get them. ;-)

Actually, I have both smooth and textured on 5 different cubes, I can't say I absolutely prefer one over the other, but I guess I lean *marginally* towards the smooth. I imagine it would be a matter of personal taste, they're both completely great.

That reminds me, I've saved enough money to order some new cubes. Off to spend it. :-)

They don't stick out very much. They're probably twice the thickness of the regular stickers.

As for removing them, I've never had a chance to do so; they seem to last forever.

The corners come up eventually. I've had to cut off like 20 corners but there's still a lot of tile left. You can take them off completely and put it back on like new as long as you don't drop it in dirt or somewhere really dusty. After enough wear and tear you can just pry a corner up with your nail or a knife and peel it off with your finger.

I prefer the smooth ones over the textured ones. The textured tiles make my hands sweat and the cube slips around in my hands really bad during PLLs and any other fingertricks.
