So I bought a new core for my Edison since it was striped, but there are no grooves within the core for the screws to go in... What am I supposed to do? The core is red.. I don't know if that is supposed to make a difference or not. Please help.

Just screw the screw into the core and it's threads will make it's own grooves as it enters the core. Just make sure that the screw is straight otherwise you'll end up with a crooked screw and redoing it can be even trickier.
