Couple of question on solving the 5x5

So for Christmas I got a 5x5 rubik's cube. And I'm not any speed solver or anything, so those solutions don't really mean much to me. I solve all my cubes layer by layer to keep things simple. And like the 4x4 I end up with 2 problems (I got them solved on the 4x4, but not the 5x5). 1. being I need to switch Cube A/B/or C from Edge 1 to Edge 2 and Cube A/B/or C from Edge 2 to Edge 1. And I need to be able to switch corners. I thought that using the 4x4 methods with slightly different turns would solve them, but to my dismay it didn't. If you don't understand what I mean I hope this picture somewhat helps

X= being face color
Y= being Left face color
Z= being Right face color

Front Face

X X X X X
X X X X X
Z X X X Y
X X X X X
X X X X X

This is my only problem that usually always occurs. I've tried switching them with different methods all that usually fail.

I hope you could help me, and please use simple terminology. I could use the list of turns or a site that would be easy to understand would be nice. The only sites I've found all have to do with speed solving and not solving a 5x5 layer by layer.

Thanks.

Welcome to Speedsolving.com.

What Dene said should help, if you are still stuck, let us know and we can help. Although this site is about speedsolving puzzles, it is also about solving in general. You have to be able to solve before you can speedsolve ;). And if you can speedsolve, you can solve, so you are at the correct place ;)

I used Dan Brown 4x4x4. I simply do:

Dw R F' U R' F Dw2 L' F U' L F' Dw

It is basically: Dw R F' U R' F Dw' and then its mirror.
