Hey!
I've always been an allrounder, for the first 3 years of cubing or so. I competed in everything, even joined the Silver club etc.
Then, like 1.5 years ago, all of a sudden I decided to main 3BLD. Because I didn't want to suck ass at everything anymore. I stopped training any other event from one day to the next, learned 3-style and every crazy technique no one has ever heard of, did nothing else.
It was absolutely worth it, now getting good at something is so much more fun than doing everything but not improving. I started to win competitions on a regular basis. The sense of accomplishment of diving deep in and actually understand an event is not comparable to just doing braindead solves in everything just to improve a fraction of a second in a year. (This only works with events that actually have theory behind them, so just don't choose Clock and you'll be fine, I guess Mega/6x6/7x7 aren't that great either in that regard though).
