Anyone else a fan of DC or Marvel?
My favourite has to be the modern Batman comics, as in most arcs past Year One and a few older ones whenever I can get a hold of a collected edition. I love the grim and grittiness of it all. Superman is ok sometimes, but he's too much of a good boy to be entertaining in my opinion.
What is most attractive about modern age comics to me is the combination of intelligent plots, realistic perspectives, great artwork (the detailed inking and non-solid colouring), characters with depth to their personalities, and a wide array of amateur philosophical dilemmas and discussions.
Individual comics are too expensive but my local library has a subscription - I read it there first and buy the arc graphic novel afterwards.
What superheros are your favourite?
P.S. Don't mention manga here.
EDIT: forgot to mention that I thought Marvel's Civil War was awesome, but I hate the Spiderman sorta-reboot.
