Me and some of my friends are interested in creating a collegiate cubing league. The idea is to create teams at your colleges and hold olympic-like competitions between colleges. By olympic-like I mean that their are a series of events which members compete in, including WCA events and relays (4 people solving a 3x3 one after another, 2x2-5x5, etc). The first place winner gets 3 points for their team, second place gets 2 points, third place gets 1 point. The team with the most points at the end of the competition wins. Each team member will only be allowed to compete in 2 WCA events and 2 relays so one player can not dominate the whole cubing meet. I think this would be a really fun way to expand speed cubing and meet new people. These college cubing meets do not have to be official although they could be. We could also include high school cubing clubs. I go to UMass Amherst and have a friend at Holy Cross who is interested and know that many schools in New England have cubing clubs such as RPI, MIT and Northeastern. If we could get a few more colleges in New England we could start a Collegiate Cubing League which I think would be a lot of fun. If anyone has any suggestions or is interested in this idea leave a comment! I would like to get this league up and running for this coming school year!
