I am going to my first competition with a clock in it. I am assuming that most people will have the qiyi clock. Is it WCA legal to write something on your clock to mark it as yours?

I don't believe so, I recommend taking a sticker off a cube you don't use and put it on the sides of the clock.

I emailed a delegate once regarding inserts. I was told that even taping off the dots (my question) would be alright—I don’t currently use this though. I’m sure that a small inscription would be okay, but definitely check with the delegate of your competition. The main concern and point of the rule pertaining to inserts is covering any of the clocks. The idea of a sticker on one side is also great!
