Clock and Other Things (Clock is Back)

This had been an incredible weekend for PBs. I just beat my 3BLD pb by OVER 30 SECONDS.

I have new cubes coming for the first time in 80 years from TheCubicle. I will see them tonight, as I ordered them to my family's home rather than mine due to the reverse UPS in my neighborhood.

I ordered:

1. QiYi Clock
2. 3x3 Shengshou Clock
3. 5x5 Shengshou Clock
4. DaYan GuHong (New)
5. MoYu Weilong V10
6. DaYan Megaminx Larger Size (I've never seen anyone own this but I've wanted to try it very bad)
7. Better blindfold
8. Cube cover

I qualified for a Diansheng FTO in my order, but they were out of stock so it looks like I just don't get one? I'll probably reach out to ask about that, since I would like my cool free item.

Got 4 PRs at my comp yesterday, which is pretty rad.

Pyraminx double PR except it was just barely. I literally had a counting 3.3x in both rounds, but I got a counting 5 and 7 respectively which destroyed a beautiful potential average. My new single is 3.02 (old was 3.08) and my average is 4.56 (old was 4.63). There was a 6 mover in finals and I messed it up (3.16) when it could have EASILY been sub-2. It was completely the tips which destroyed that solve. I am starting to get back into the triangle cube.

Next was SQ-1 average, which was kind of a surprise since I almost never practice. It was a 28.71 (old was 30.86)

Finally I got a clock PR single of 4.20 (old was 4.48), which was neat. I haven't gotten many good singles officially, and I definitely safetied this average since it was my first time competing in clock since March. Ended with a 5.40 average and 4th place ( :( ). I made a very goofy mistake on a solve which could have been easy sub-4 and therefore given me a sub-5 average (would be counting 5.01, 4.20, and 5.4x). After my second 7-Simul pair, I pushed the wrong pin and totally lost what I was doing, so I resorted to flip just to not DNF and got a 13 (therefore counting a very safetied 5.75).

I have 2 clock rounds and I think 3 pyra rounds this coming weekend, so I intend to get -1000000 seconds on both events.

Had a comp on Sunday. Went extraordinarily mid in terms of results. Got 3 PRs, though none of them were extraordinary.

3x3 Single: 12.39
3x3 OH Average: 47.xx (down from over ten seconds lol)
Pyraminx average: 4.45

All. Three. Clock. Rounds. Were. BAD.

I got an early DNF in all rounds, primarily from zero sleep the previous night combined with nerves. Both ended up being mid-7 averages because I checked the faces TWO TIMES.

Then came the big final, Yippee! So I said "Yeah, we are balling" and quadruple DNFd all 4.4x-4.5x second solves except for a single 4.58.

Hopefully a good result soon. But I already got my annual PR average , so I'm all out of tries.

Also no bld success even though I thought my memo was on point. A fellow competitor was playing a concerto with their folding plastic chair against the similarly foldable table and floor.

It finally happened--an official sub-5 clock average! Even though it could have been a faster average, it was the end of the day and I turned slow to ensure I didn't DNF a good average. This was a 3-round clock comp, and I did terrible in the first two rounds. Both times I DNFd early on, so I needed to safety and check both sides to make finals.

This is a HUGE barrier, and even though it's a higher 4, breaking the 5 second mark will be incredibly helpful for all future comps.

ALSO, I got a 2.88 PB single while warming up yesterday.

5 PRs and 1 tied PR today. Nothing too notable, but I have yet to break my PR streak still. I had the immense blessing of seeing @BVCuber13, who I have to always see because we share a state of residence. We even sat at the same table.

I got two extras in clock finals because the same judge wouldn’t stop talking to me after lifting the clock cover. It was a unique experience.

3x3 Single: 12.39 (tied 12.39)

3x3 OH Single: 33.18 (38.75 previously)

3x3 OH Average: 44.11 (44.76 previously)

Pyraminx Single: 2.86 (3.02 previously)

2x2 Single: 2.24 (2.28 previously)

Clock Average: 4.86 (4.91 previously); times included a 4.69, 4.70, and 4.71

Got one PR at my comp yesterday plus one tied PR. I'm at 28 comos and haven't broken my PR streak, so I want to keep that up.

Pyraminx Average: 4.22 (previously 4.45)

Clock Average: Tied 4.86 💀 (5.46, 7.48, 4.25, 4.23, 4.87)

Clock average could have been low 4, but the clock I used for the first two solves was worse than I expected, so I switched after that and ended up with a counting 4.25. The 5.46 was easily gonna be a sub-4, but I took awhile to correct one incorrect turn at the end. Hoping for a low 4 average soon, then a sub-4 eventually this year!

I made a YouTube channel after contemplating it for years. I only have one upload at the moment, which is my first official BLD success from this weekend. It is @TheMolecularClock

For my next video, I have purchased the Zeal timer and will create an unboxing/review. I was inspired by the way it is, and I even created a meme based on its lifestraw-esque characteristics.
