The cube could be a little small and he could train fingertricks and get a better time.

Some children dislike and are forced to learn, but he like and it's the most important.

Children with small hands should really get a mini DianSheng. They're only 45mm but they turn surprisingly well.

They offered him a mini-cube. He didn't like it.
I mean.. it was probably because he is just used to handle the big one, so it felt weird...

Anyway, it is impressive at it is. I'm not sure I would teach him fingertrics if I was his dad... let the kid have fun because trying to improve times when you're 4 sounds like a stressful activity
