Hi there!

In the last weeks I made progress. My averages are now down to 21.xx, 22.xx - 23.xx is now BAD. I just got a 20.66 avg. And because I can't wait to get those sub 20 averages I made a few videos and posted them on Youtube. I would now appreciate every advice, hint, observation of pro cubers. If anyone would take the time to watch, feel free to criticize! I listen.

I think Stefan can point you the direction of some nice "professionals" :-)
We are about the same speed at 2H but I would suggest working on your F2L now. Trying to look ahead more. Lately I have been just doing slow f2l's to work on move count (I have to after my failed marathon). I like to go through peoples solves they have posted on here like in Stefan's study or one-step stop videos (Harris's) and try to pick up tips like different ways to pair up and insert. Yea, move count and look ahead. I think increased look ahead helps with the move count too tho.
Good Luck!

Ok, by pros I mean just those people who solve the 3x3x3 in under 20 or even under 15 seconds on average. Because it takes quite some dedication - at least for me.

By the way, how long did it take you sub-20-solvers until you achieved those times? Because I've been cubing for 10 months now. Ok, the first three months I practiced only the beginners method (first corners then edges on the f2l, LL only with 4 algorythms) because I didn't know anything precise about speedcubing and Fridrich method.
Then I found cubestation.co.uk which seemed very nicely illustrated and explained to me. So I immediately started learning Fridrich (at first 4 LLL, then F2L, then 3LLL, now I do complete 2LLL).

Now I expanded my thread by one question...

Thanks for advice!

Took me 6 months of practice to get a sub-20 average and another 6 months for sub-15. I practised quite a lot daily, because I found Petrus so elegant and much more motivating than the LBL I knew before.

Ah, I remember those videos. :P In fact, I think that is the single video that motivated me to practice Petrus rather than Fridrich all the time.

For me, the gap between sub-20 and sub-15 was three months, but sub-20 took awhile (my own laziness).

The gap between sub-20 and sub-16 for me has been 5 months or so. I am yet to go sub-15 on an avg of 12 yet. Once I go sub-14, I plan to work on Block-Building methods strictly, and will try going sub-15 with them as well.

Wow, thats pretty good, very impressive. I think thats the fastest Petrus solves I have ever seen. Did you start with Petrus or did you switch from Fridrich? Do you also use Petrus LL or just F2L?

Johannes never did Fridrich. He also uses a combination of LL methods, ranging from ZB for about 40% of the cases, COLL+EP, and OCLL+PLL.

Who the hell does the 3LLL on Petrus's site anyway?

It took me a little less than 5 months to get to sub 20, and it's been quite a while now (since October 2nd), now I'm at 16-17 avg. I've been really lazy and going on and off cubing (still haven't learned all OLLs yet -__-).
