A while ago I was gifted what I think is a genuine rubix 5x5. From the start it was quite notchy but it's quickly loosened up to the point where it's a real pain to use.

I was thinking there's maybe screws somewhere that I can tighten? but can't remove any centre caps.

Is there any way to tighten a genuine rubix 5x5?

Thanks guys. :)

I believe the genuine Rubik's products are made to be durable, as you might know from experience that speedcubes are not intended to be super durable, as people won't be dropping them or turning roughly.
For this reason, being able to (easily) remove center caps to adjust screw depth and spring compression would not be a good idea.
However, I believe it might be possible, but pieces could be broken in the process as is often the case when disassembling Rubik's brand products that were not intended to be disassembled.
Doesn't mean you shouldn't try, but it could be quite the challenge!

I think you should buy a new 5x5. Either the MGC or the YJ ZhiLong mini. Probably some other good budget ones as well.

I did. After the orginal rubiks got so loose I got an MGC. Stickerless. Magnetic. I love it.

But the org rubiks was a gift and it sits on my desk but I never play with it. It's too hard on my fingers. But my granddaughter scrambled it and I had to solve it of course. Which made me wonder if it could be made playable.

On signing up to the forum I don't remember there being the option to hide my age. There should be. If there's any age related stuff on a forum then simply checking a box to say 'Over 18' (or 21) but age should be optional just like gender, sexual preference, religion. These things have nothing to do with cubing.

I also didn't enter my real name, address or mother's maiden name.

You should be able to find it in account > account details > date of birth > show year of birth
Hope this helps!

IDK but if so just chuck it at a wall and the sticker will pop off
