i have only ever lubed my c4u once and that was when it was first assembled, but now that the lube has worn out, it has become VERY smooth, cuts corners nicer and is just generally better. What i dont understand is that when i pop an edge, there is all plastic dust and no lube, so why would that make the cube better?

thanks

Sometimes I get funny behaviour from cube also, like it gets better for no reason. Sometimes it pops and after assembling it becomes smoother, it's like the popping breaks-in something :eek:

or adjusting the screw and turing it back to the exact same tension, and it becomes smoother than before (on the very side)

silicone lubes work by building up a film for the parts to glide over. It's possible that you didn't apply the lube well and over time solving the silicone product worked it's way in. But again more likely the work of the aforementioned cube fairy :)

@panyan
maybe because of the dust,that makes your cube smoother.
because i have a cube that also have many dust inside and is also smooth and cut corners.
breaking in the cube maybe the cause of having many dust inside.And makes your cube smoother.

Most people from UK like to use one from "Tableau". Delivery is quite expensive from their site, and theirs very few shops that stock it. You should try buy it from ebay as that's where i got mine.
Search "Tableau Dry Lube" and you should find some, in a red and white can.

=)
