Two questions. 1) What exactly is hex packaging? I've heard about it but I don't know where the name came from; 2) I've had my cube (which was hex packaged, I know this from the descriptions.) for almost a week and I've noticed that there has been a lot of friction on it recently. I've read about lubing and all that and I've read about waiting until the cube breaks in. How long do you think it'll take to break in? or if it will at all. Thanks.

i think that's hexagonal packaging. before i had my cube4you diy, i also bought rubiks.com cubes the came with really great hexagonal design packaging. yes, it was really rough at first, but then i sanded it well, and used silicone spray, then, it was smooth after 1 day of constantly playing with it. although it took a week i guess before i got really satisfied with the smoothness of the turns.

Just play with it for awhile. Some take a few minutes, some take days, some take weeks, some take months. I would suggest lubricating it with some silicon spray, such as those found at ACE. If you need any help, feel free to message me.

What you do is give it to some person at school and leave it with them for a week. When you get it back, it should be at least partly broken in, with no effort on your part :-)

Haha, that works sometimes. I got to break in my friends Rubik's 4x4, but it was fun because I learned how to solve a new puzzle.
