when doing the last layer...

"There are four cases to consider, the first of which is a non-event:

All corners correctly oriented
Nothing to do - move on.

No corners correctly oriented
Position the cube so that the cubie facing L on UFL is the same colour as the U face, and do a Sune?. You will now be in the "one corner correct" position below..

One corner correctly oriented
Do either Sune? or the mirror.

Two corners correctly oriented
Position the cube so that the cubie facing L on UFL is not the same colour as the U face, and do a Sune?. Do not put an already oriented corner on UFL... use one of the two non-oriented corners. You will now be in the "one corner correct" position above.

Sune? can be done pretty fast. Check out how fast Lars can do it. (Video at the bottom.)"(http://www.sensemagic.co.uk/cube/sloow-method-ll.html)

what do you do when three corners are done? and there is only one square remaining but if you do the alg in ruins it?

there is no such case where three corners are orientet the right way. that is just not possible if you finished the first two layers. there are only 57 cases for the orientation of the last layer. if you are an apsolute beginner in cubing then the fridrich methode is probably not the easiest to start with. especially if you dont have somebody next to you who can explain all this stuff. i started out solving the cube with a beginner methode first and switched to friedrich when i was good in solving the cube with the simple way.
