(please move this if its in the wrong place:) )

what site or store would be the best place to buy a good cube.

(im kinda looking for a DIY cube but whats the difference between them and regular cubes? and are they expensive?)

THANKS! :D

If I'm getting a normal rubik's brand crap cube, then I go to Toys R Us, or Target. A lot of places will sell them. However to get a DIY I usually order it online, cube4you.com has proved to be a great site :D However the shipping is sorta expensive, and takes a while unless you get the fast shipping.

If you're looking to get one fast, order it from Puzzleproz on Ebay. If you're willing to wait, you can buy it from Cube4you, but I think their cubes are almost the same. From cube4you, it takes about 3 weeks to get to the US so yeah =/
Puzzleproz never took more than a week for me.

it states on their website that it takes 10-15 days. I ordered twice, and got my stuff on 11th and 12th day. It's nowhere close to 3 weeks (or 21 days).

A DIY cube differs from a "regular" cube in that you put it together yourself, so you can adjust the tension to your own specifications. You can't adjust the tension on store-bought Rubik's cubes.

You can purchase a regular Rubik's cube at any local department store or toy store. As far as I know, the only place to purchase a DIY cube is online.

Both cube4you and PuzzleProz sell the same DIY cubes. Here are links to both websites so you can check them out.

Andrew is right - Puzzle Proz is dependable, fast, and the shipping charges are reasonable since they ship out of the United States. Cube4you seems to be priced lower than Puzzle Proz, but that's offset by higher shipping charges since the product is coming from China.

Another place you can purchase a DIY cube is from www.Rubiks.com.

Here's a good idea of what it will cost you from each.

Puzzle Proz:
Cube = $11.99 (Comes with stickers - free lube if you purchase 2 or more)
Shipping = $2.99 (3-5 days)
Total = $14.98

Cube4You
Cube = $7.70 (comes with stickers)
Shipping = $20.40 (5+ days)
Total = $28.10

Rubiks.com
Cube = $10.99 (comes with lube & stickers)
Shipping = $8.99 (5 - 6 business days)
Total = $19.98

That's true, you don't have to get the upgraded shipping with either Rubiks.com or with Cube4you.com. I selected those shipping options for even comparison purposes - apples to apples, so to speak. This way each item would arrive within roughly the same amount of time.

Personally, I don't like to use basic shipping for international orders. First, it's not trackable. So there's no way to know where your shipment is or when to expect it. Furthermore, delivery can take so long that if you have a problem you don't know about it until it's too late to resolve it. If I'm going to pay for a product up front, I'd just as soon be assured that it will be delivered in a reasonable amount of time. But that's a matter of personal preference.

By the way, Lofty, I live in Florida, too (although I'm on the other end of the state than you). The last time I ordered from China (I think it was Mefferts) I received the product in less than a week.
