Hey Everyone,

I'm new.I can sove the cube using the layer method anywhere from 1:45-2:00 mins.I form the cross, get the corners of the top layer, then the edges of the middle layer and then solve the last layer.I heard its possible to combine steps to speed up.Can anyone help me with that?

yea i did that the last time. there are ways to improve your timing.

like velcro say after solving the cross, you can combine the middle edges and the corners and solve it all at the same time but the F2L is mostly self learnt.. just find the alg but you dont have to memorise them but you would be able to apply them without any trouble...after learning that, you can go on to learning OLLs and PLLs for the last layer.

if you want the links here they are:

F2L : http://www.cubestation.co.uk/cs2/index.php?page=3x3x3/cfop/f2l/f2l

OLL : http://www.cubestation.co.uk/cs2/index.php?page=3x3x3/cfop/oll/oll

PLL : http://www.cubestation.co.uk/cs2/index.php?page=3x3x3/cfop/pll/pll

Tips on improving speed : http://www.cubefreak.net/speedcubing_tips.html

apparently after learning all that which would take months of practise, you can get your timing to at least 15-20 sec sub and actually my sub aint that good it is only 51 sec but i am learning OLL and PLLs now to improve it

I am a newb as well. I started with the layer by layer method and quickly moved on to the Jessica Freidrich method. In doing so I was using a hybrid method for some time where I solved:

1. The Cross
2. F2L
3. The final layer

Once I got that I went on to learn PLL. I am still in the process of learning OLL. I am about half way through those. I found Bob Burton's algorithms especially helpful although you will need to look around to find the algorithms that work for you.
