Taken from my youtube video description

I have been messing around with the Rubik's Cube for about a week now after seeing a video on youtube on how to solve the cube. The video is

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsQIoP...

This isn't my best time (1:22.24) but still decent for me. The time is 1:33.41. The beeping sound in the very beginning is just my cell phone. The timer in the video is an Ipod Touch App called Cube Timer

.

I am posting this video for help on solving the cube faster, I am still a beginner and any constructive critism is greatly appreciated. Thank you for watching!

I apologize for the bad angling also.

Well first of all...do the cross on the bottom, solve the corners with R U R' U' or whatever, and when you get to where the corners just have to be turned, flip the cube over and use R U R' U'. It's much faster. Also, buy some CRC Silicone (available at your local Walmart), pop out an edge as Dan Brown says, and spray it in there. If you already added petroleum jelly as Dan Brown said, wipe it all out and then spray a little bit in there, put the edge back in, and just start turning the cube. It won't feel amazing at first, just give it a little time and it will be better. This forum will help you improve a ton. Also, welcome :)

Also, if you feel like it, don't even use Dan Brown's method. I used this and had a PB of ~52 seconds by my third day of using this method.

So then of course, there are other methods...which would be the best method for a sub 60 time?

Best? Well, it's possible to get sub-60 with any method, including beginner's. I got sub-60 using the beginner's method I linked to except using the keyhole method for the first two layers. I got sub-50 using Fridrich F2L and beginner's LL.

I see you're wristing, lube your cube and use your fingers

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that in my previous posts.

When you lube your cube, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use Vaseline or WD-40. Vaseline will leave nasty black gunk in your cube and it will be a pain to clean out. WD-40 damages the plastic and will literally destroy your cube.

Yea I plan on getting some silicon today or tomorrow, then learning finger tricks. So I'm guessing I'm going to change the method I'm using to something more efficient, just not sure which one. Any thoughts, or perhaps there's a thread on these forums that list the methods?

okay, i used silicone to lube my cube and now it rotates fast. Now I am going to learn the Fridrich method, but I can't seem to find a good tut, can someone post a tut for that or help me out?

Thanks

you could try the vids on my youtube channel... i think i explain it decently but i accept that the tutorial isn't amazing... it's not full fridrich but it's a nice stepping stone.

sorry for double posting. i dont' know how to quote 2 messages in one post... any help? and yea you just need to practice more.. turn the right slice instead of turning the left slice and the middle slice....learn 2 Look OLL and 2 look PLL for a start..

On the bottom-right, where the "quote" button is, there's at "quote+" button. You can click on multiple things you want to quote, and then click reply/quote to get to the reply to thread page.
