I am attempting to arrange a group of 8 battery packs in series within a box. The possible arrangements are in the picture attached as are the rules. If you have any additional questions or a rule is confusing please ask. Hopefully a wire route can be found that doesn't require a single wire to run the full length of a battery but if it does the fewest number and shortest length of these long connections is preferred.

Your help on this problem will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

If you want to start and end in the same empty space, then you must cross every other column in the -> direction the same number of times as you cross it in the <- direction. But the two other columns have three batteries each, and three is odd, so you need to horizontally cross each of those columns a fourth time, using a wire. That makes it so you cross those columns twice <- and twice ->. So given the constraints you should need at least two long connections:

Thanks for the help, I thought that would probably be how it turned out
