This is an avg 5 that I filmed the other day, thought I'd film an avg 5 and got one that wasn't far off my pb :). Hope you guys enjoy it, I'm looking for any tips if you've got some. From watching it I'm thinking I need to work on look ahead, less cube rotations and maybe start solving cross on bottom cause my cross-f2l transition doesn't seem the best..

anyway, I don't mind if you don't watch it all, just looking for some advice :).

Like you said, your transition from cross to first pair and from pair to pair needs work so keep practicing look ahead. You don't necessarily need to start solving the cross on bottom (plenty of really fast cubers don't), but if you don't mind trying it, it usually helps cross to f2l transition.

One thing I noticed is you seem to tilt the cube a lot during the solves (to see the back face I assume). You do this when finding pairs and on some algorithms it seems (hard to see from the angle). Try not to do this since it pauses your solve and you lose plenty of time.

Also, isn't that cube the stickerless Dayan Guhong? If so it's not only illegal in competitions as also might harm your f2l when you're not using it. If you don't mind using another cube, you probably should (and use that just for fun).

Yeah as you said learning cross on bottom is way easier for the transition between cross and F2L . Learning to get comfortable with cross on bottom does not take much just a bit of determination I suppose:P. Also work on lookahead and eventually learn full pll(Full oll is not necessary for faster times even sub 20).
Yeah thats about it for my advice because I am only nearly sub 20 myself :)

@Litz;
Thanks heaps :). I notice myself tilting a lot too, it's mainly to check for Pll's to see what case I've got, it seems faster than doing U2 really.. But I guess I should get used to not doing it?
Yep it's the stickerless guhong, which atm is my only cube, though I'm waiting the arrival of a stickered Zhanchi which I bought purely because I didn't have a stickered cube :). So I'll be using that mainly once I get it and just use this for fun as you suggested :).

@David1994;
Ok, I might start trying to do cross on bottom, it seems like it's not really needed but I might as well add it as something to practice :). Full PLL is probably going to be my next step when I can be bothered, but even with 2 look I average around 4 seconds with PLL :). So I think it's f2l that's slowing me down the most, along with pauses and what not =P.

At the moment my breakdown of times is around this;
Cross: 3-4 seconds
F2l: 14-20 seconds
OLL: 4-5 seconds
PLL: 4-5 seconds

Right now work on your F2L. Just practice slow turning and look ahead, even solve F2L using different angles. That helped me :)

Hopefully that order arrives very soon! Too bad it didn't make it before Guildford Open. ;_;

Thanks heaps izovire, always appreciate your comments :).
Yeah I was hoping it would be here before this weekend, cause I've got two days without homework where I can relax and really try to improve my 3x3 =].
But oh well, if it comes on monday I'll still have a bit of time with it before back to college =].
