i started cubing back in 2018, around december of that year. i remember seeing new cubes get released and thinking, wow, this is as good as it’s gonna get.
after coming back to the community and joining the forums, i see that there are so many new things, such as corner core magnets, ball cores, magnet customization to the extremes.
im just wondering if this is too much. i main a wrm 2019, and it does the job just as good, if not better than most of the newer cubes i own that have ‘advanced’ settings or superior designs. i understand personal preference is a big contributing factor, but looking from the outside in, it seems like we have gone too far.
new cubes dont really feel like cubes anymore. they feel as light as paper, as quick as a blade, and optimized to an insane degree.
i feel that designers have gotten really caught up with finding the next big thing in the 3x3 market, such as maglev, when they havent really focused on other events as much, such as mega or squan. big cubes have not seen much love from a customization standpoint either.
i would just like to know your opinions on this matter, its something ive thought about for a while now.
