Are my PBs unusual?

Hello! I am here to ask if my PB's are unusual compared to my Averages. So my 3x3 average is around 40 seconds.. but my PB is 21 seconds.. got it last night in an easy F2L and a PLL skip... Is that an unusual difference? Also, for my 2x2 that I got yesterday, my average is around 12 seconds, but my PB is 3.8... and I have also gotten a 3.9, and a 4.2... Is this unusual to be so relatively far apart?

2x2 singles are pointless, I have a .34 that was 3 moves. 3x3 times at your stage are very very inconsistent, so no, a 21 is not that unusual.

Ok also, another question.. my cross and f2l takes around 22-23 seconds.. how do I cut down on that? I am trying to work on lookahead but see no improvement.. if anything a slowdown when I try

Learning look ahead at this stage is pointless. You can get close to 20 seconds without it. You should just do slow practice solves and get familiar with the many F2L cases there are. I timed myself like a maniac at 45 seconds, trying to get sub 40. All I had to do is slow solves, studying the cube and getting comfortable with F2l, and I became almost sub 30 pretty much instantly.

The time to start learning to look ahead is when you pretty much can solve any given F2L case blind and without much thought. That way, you can solve a pair and look for the next one.

Yeah I can't do this lol. I have to follow the pieces. I look ahead by catching the next F2L pair pieces in the corner of my eye.

Do you know algs? Or just use to solving the cases through doing it 1000 times.

It is impossible to look ahead efficiently when you are looking at the pieces you are solving. At your stage you should practice solving F2L-cases intuitively. So don't learn algs yet. Later, you might find a few cases where you're like: "hmm, my intuitive solution doesn't seem very fast/efficient". Then you can search an alg for that case only.

I do it intuitively, but can do about 90% of them bld...

When it comes to working on f2l, eveybody has been roght in telling you that working on lookahead is very unnecessary at your stage. Just do some slow solves and pay attention to how you create and insert f2l pairs. Keep on doing it intuitively. There are plenty of algorithms, but I was around 18 seconds when I looked up these algorithms and it turned out that I was doing most of them by pure intuition. I also recommend looking at videos of some of the top cubers giving example solves. You can learn quite a bit on how to do f2l efficiently.

There's 3 or 4 cases or so for which I learned specific algs. Other than that, I learned it intuitively and with time, they basically became algs. You can learn all the algs or learn it all with intuition, after some time the 2 kinda become the same. I'd recommend intuition over algs. It's more fun and gives you a better understanding of the cube.
