Application tape tips?

I just used application tape for the first time to resticker my 5x5, and the results were not good. On the first side, I only got like 5 stickers to come off of the sticker sheet. I was able to get it from the tape onto the cube right, but couldn't get the stickers onto the tape. I used a credit card across the top to try to get it to stick, but that didn't work. On the next two sides I got about half of the stickers each time. It was better than nothing, but still a pain. I finally gave up and just restickered the rest by hand. How do you guys use application tape to apply stickers? Any tips?

i don't, because it never worked even as well as it did for you.... imho there is either a trick to it that i don't know or it's just horribly useless....
