I don't know any HD camers that are cheap. But for the angle what I suggest doing is putting the camera on some sort of small table that you can put your arms around and cube. Then the person can see things from your perspective.

Try to put a stool or a table behind you, put a lot of books or something on it, and have the camera be pointing at the cube over your shoulder.

And... why would you want to convert your videos into HD if they aren't in HD?

Don't put your elbows on the table, you can solve better with your forearms or not even touching the table.
