[Unofficial] Andrew Brown 6.27 OH single

For what it's worth, I have to warm my hands up all the time whilst cubing, so that shouldn't necessarily be used as evidence that this is fake.

The implausibly fast recognition, on the other hand...

I think its pretty obviously fake. Mainly because of the first pair. After he solves the cross, the corner and edge he solves first are on DRB and DB, yet he solves them without first turning the cube to see the pieces. I'm also pretty certain that he didn't predict the first pair because that first F2L pair he solved stayed on the bottom/back of the cube while he was inspecting.

You know he could have tracked pieces right?

Oooo, I think I'm going to make my own version of this video. Of course, I won't be able to replicate the 6 sec OH solve, because I suck, but I sure can do a great imitation of the HORRIBLE acting. I agree with most people here: The warm up just seemed corny and forced ( it was done too consciously), the solve was obviously prepared (sure it's possible, but if it was your first time doing the solve, you would've had a realistic reaction), and the end reaction was wayyyyy forced and fake acting.

And that your scramble uses B and F moves as well.

Andrew's original scramble DID. It's just that when Brest reconstructed he used a different scramble to get to that position.

EDIT: Err, sorry. I was wrong.

The actual scramble performed in the video is: L2 B2 L2 D' R2 D' L2 B2 F2 U' F2 U2 B2 L' U' L2 D2 R' B2 R2 U' (21f)

People saying the reaction was soooo fake: How so? I don't see it. And nobody ever explains it, it's always just "obvious", with which I disagree.

I always get the impression that you call a reaction soooo fake just because you think the video as a whole is a fake, not because you actually have anything against the reaction itself...

I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally would not have thought it was fake had he not had a reaction at all, or if he had an out of control, screaming reaction, and didn't do the warm up routine before the solve followed by the deep exhale as if he's expecting the next solve to be a big one. It's the way his reaction was kind of just nonchalant, as if he was expecting it. The tone of it seemed like over acting. One reason you may not be able to tell is because you're not a native English speaker. I could be totally wrong because I don't know any other languages well enough to test out my theory, but I know whenever I'm watching a foreign film, I can never tell if the acting is good or bad (most times), unless they are acting alongside English speaking people. It may be the same type of thing. Watching this, though, it is very obvious that the entire thing was acted out or planned. He may very well have really gotten this time or a similar time previously, but decided to reenact the solve. These are MY reasons as to why I think it's set up, anyway. I'm not good enough to just watch the solve and be able to tell its fake for the reasons that Weston posted. It's just too fast for me to pick out such things.

But with either of those, other people would similarly say that's why it looks fake. *Whatever* way one reacts, there always will be people who say it's obviously fake and acted, just because they think the solve itself is fake and then they have a biased perception when evaluating the rest. And if they see the exact same reaction for a solve they don't doubt, strangely the reaction isn't suspicious at all...

Confirmation bias

I think the only 2 things that can be considered factual that would make this video appear fake are 1. Tracking of pieces that are not visible at that time (unbelievable recognition) 2. The scramble does NOT affect EO at all which would make the solve significantly easier regardless of method.

True, different things will give people different reasons to have different views of things, but I never thought the fact that it was possible for him to have a solve like this, was fake. I totally believe he could have had this solve previously. I just don't think that this video was the first time he did the scramble. It just seemed that he knew it was going to turn out like it did, and he knew what was coming.

Wrong (especially with your "regardless of method"). Try green or blue cross.

And you find it suspicious that someone's very fast solve was easy? Many very fast solves will be somehow easy, that's how they got fast and that's why they were shown and viewed by you in the first place! It has a reasonable 1/2048 chance in general, and probably better considering this context.

Edit: In other words, if I do 2048 solves, get the expected scramble that "doesn't affect EO", set my record with it because as you say it "make the solve significantly easier", and I show you that solve because it's my record, you will argue that it's suspicious???
