I have a competition in 6 months and I need to get sub-20 by that time.Currently I average about 42 seconds(5 seconds for the cross,21 seconds for the F2L,6 seconds for the OLL and 10 seconds for the PLL).I use 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL.I don't use look ahead.I use a hybrid cube(diy core and storebought pieces).Any advice for getting sub-20?What kind of cube should I get? When should I switch to full PLL and full OLL?I'm currently trying to practice look ahead, any advice for that? What should i focus on and practice more?Do I have good chances to get sub-20 in 6 months?

Practice. Everyone will tell you that because that is mostly all you can do.

I would hold off from 1 look PLL until at least sub 40, then full OLL at sub 20 because they won't really improve your times drastically right now.

For lookahead practice, try slow turning. While turning, try to look for more pieces. I can actually easily get sub 20 averages with very slow turning, then a fast OLL and PLL.
