About the extended-cross

Baaaaaaaack on topic.

X-Crossing must be done with caution. You have to understand what a good X-Cross is and what a bad one it. If the edge is connected to an edge-corner pair I never go for it. If all the edges are bad I never go for it. And I usually find myself more preserving an F2L pair than building an X-Cross. Oftentimes I put in 3 cross pieces, 2 F2L pairs, and then finish my cross.

X-Crossing is fun and good to practice but it doesn't help for quite a while. Even then, I only X-Cross on about 1/4 of my solves just because I don't like having to risk that slower start.

Guys, he averages 11 seconds. If you don't use x-cross on a regular basis, you are in no position to give him any (potentially misleading) advice whatsoever.

This is really yet another reason to call for a separate subforum. There's a difference between being elitist and filtering out stupid posts.
