Hey everyone! Just wanted to post a quick hello, I just joined these forums after following a link from r/cubers. I am one of those people who had a Rubik's cube since childhood but never managed to really figure it all out. I could do a few sides but never really took it any further. After seeing a recent WR on YouTube two weeks ago I became interested in speed cubing and learned the beginners method. Last week I started F2L and just 30 minutes got my PB and officially ended the sub 1 min club with a 53.77. I need to start working on my OLL and PLL because I currently just brute force those two steps.

Anyway, I'm only doing 3x3 right now, and have bought an absurd number of cubes just to try out all the latest and greatest. I went from the rubiks brand to a Dayan and now have an aolong v2, weilong v2, guangying, shuangren, a gans 357, and am expecting a hualong to come in the mail today. I love how relatively cheap cubing is compared to my other hobbies like guitar. I have loved experimenting with all different kinds of cubes while finding what I like and dislike. My PB is with my weilong v2, but i find myself favoring my aolong v2 in general.

Anyway, thanks for reading this far if you have, hope to learn a lot and contribute a lot as well!

Welcome! Happy cubing.

For what it's worth I think I figured out a way to do the last layer in 1 look and it only takes 38 algs. If that's too much, you can cut back to 16 algs and get to a 2 look last layer. It's easier to use if you solve with the ZZ method, but if you use CFOP, which it sounds like, I have thoughts on how you can use it.

I'm going to try and teach this method to elementary school students next year in our Rubik's cube club.

I posted it here:
