A hybrid method worth mentioning.

Here are the steps.

1. Solve cross.

2. Solve to F2L pairs next to each other, not diagonal.

3. Fix bad edges (you can disregard the other cross edge if neccessary)

4. Solve rest of F2L until last pair is made.

5. Do F2LL (the westonian made a video about this, It orients the corners as your insert the last F2L pair)

6. OLL skipped and onto PLL

This would be more efficient with petrus though. But with petrus us kind of boring. Oh, and all the F2LL algorithms are 2-gen. F2LL can also be called the Winter Variation.

why are people such babies about block building?

I'm just going to pretend that you didn't say that Petrus is boring.

It depends on who you are. For me, it would be much faster to make a cross and two f2l pairs than to make a 2x2x3 but for some people that would be faster.

Petrus isn't boring, it's just hard.

The method is not very efficient, is it?

cross: 7 moves
2 slots: 14
EO: maybe 5
3rd slot: 7
pairing up: 5?
F2LL: 8.5
PLL: 12
Total: 58.5 moves

a little bit less efficient than CFOP...

You forgot to explain why this was worth mentioning.

Oh, and all the F2LL algorithms are 2-gen.
That's pointless. For some cases there are much better 3-gen algs.

Agreed, all the F2LL pages I've seen have a lot of 3 gen cases listed as well. I still don't get why people think 2gen pairs/whatever is so great. I'm not willing to sacrifice efficiency for barely (or not at all) improved turning speed. F2LL/WV is pretty worthless in my opinion, if you're going to learn 42 algs then learn something useful like CxLL or non-parity EP for sq1.

i think you should learn to build blocks as it will help out no matter what method you use because it helps you understand the cube in and of itself better.

Petrus is the method i use when i dont have a timer handy i like it. i just need to get better with bad edges and step 4. i still do fridrich for step 4 only R and U moves tho

I was working on something very similar to this a few weeks ago, although I came to the conclusion that it would end up having more steps and more moves than Fridrich. However, for someone that doesn't want to learn the whole OLL, it could definitely be somewhat useful. I had a lot of trouble coming up with a way to recognize the the orientation of the edges quickly.

why does everyone say that the OLL is skipped? You do edge orientation, and then orient corners as you put in the pair. How is that a skip? The edge orientation takes some moves, and there is an algorithm to orient corners with insertion of the pair. It's similar to a 2-look OLL including a pair insertion.

I agree oll is not skipped. Just like CLS doesn't skip oll.
