[Unofficial] 8 second underwater solve! :D

Anthony:
I got one word of the name right :D

And also I can hold my breath for 2.5 min easily. I can go for longer, and I don't practice.

I find it hard to believe you can hold it for 2.5m without practicing. That's pretty rough.

Here's a tip: don't panic. Stay calm, and your body uses less air.
I guess since I took swimming lessons, and we had little "hold your breath" games, that could be practice.
PS
I won pretty much every hold your breath game for as long as you can...even beat my swimming teacher...

Well the general rule is "3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food" in survival type classes. I do know that the minute time can be increased with practice, and I think (not positive) the Guiness World Record for somebody holding their breath was around 5 minutes.

I know not to panic, but I also know that if you do any movement what so ever, your muscles are sucking that oxygen out. It is much easier to hold your breath if you are completely still. The Army Dive School and the Navy SEAL training include very intense breath holding exercises, but those men have been trained. I guess I'd just like to see it :P I haven't seen anybody hold their breath in person over 2 minutes. I've seen around 1.5m or so.

The current world record is 11 minutes 35 seconds by Stéphane Mifsud of France.

As far as survival when holding your breath, the "3 minutes without air" rule starts after you pass out, because your brain will keep you conscious as long as you have enough air to safely keep it running. The possibility of brain damage starts very roughly about three minutes after you pass out. So breath holding is safe in that regard (the only real risks are drowning (very unlikely with someone watching) and stress-induced heart attacks (very unlikely at this age)).

I was under the impression that 3 minutes of air after passing out was bad, not when it actually started, hrm. Thanks for the clarification though :) I can't imagine how bad Stephane's chest hurt after that, and it definitely appears that I need to study up on my guiness records haha!

I knew, of course. :)

I sometimes try to 'force' PLL skips when it looks like it will be one, but I'm never sure. Nice job knowing. :tu

Has anyone done 6x6 or 7x7 underwater?

Even if you could hold your breath for 3 minutes and solve a 6x6 in that time, you wouldn't be able to do 3mins because your hands and brain would be using oxygen. I think 5x5 is possible, though. :)

It's really quite easy. On both T OLLs, you can see the block on the right (RU-RUB), and you would also notice the CLL case. And the two solved blocks on UF-UFL and UB-UBL. It's easy to tell if it's the mirror too. Most short OLLs are quite easy to predict the PLL skip.

Yeah, that one is really easy, but some others like sune and F R U R' U' F' are a bit harder. For sune, I sometimes do R U' L' U R' U' L instead of R U R' U R U2 R' to do this, but it doesn't happen much. :(
