No, he used the right hand.

Apparently using the non solving hand is wrong. I just don't want to slam the cube on the laptop.

But seriously, this is so cool. About your three piece thing- do you locate three pieces before you start turning? Because I was under the impression that people located two pieces to make a pair, and as they join them tried to find the third edge. That seems more logical, and it's what I almost always do.

I try to see the three pieces before I start turning. The two piece approach makes sense but sometimes the third piece is in a really awkward place.

Not in any particular order of preference:

1. ZZ-b
2. CPLS+2GLL (or ZZ statue of kitten if that goes anywhere interesting)
3. ZZ with a lot of f2l tricks (like CLS, Winter and multislotting)

Not sure about ZZ-blah

No, if you look at the video, you clearly use the right hand.

And according to whauk using the right hand to stop the timer if you're a lefty cuber isn't proper.

One cool part of ZZ + CPLL is that you can get stuff done in just a few moves after second block.
Sure, people be all "BUT MISSING LINK," but in reality, if you throw one of the remaining d-layer corners into the right spot (like 1 move), you're left with one of six CP (LL) cases that can be permuted into a 2-gen RU state (as in, all piece in R and U (not just LS+LL or LL) can be done using 2-gen (RU)).

If you're more interested in this idea, lemme know, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out some nice optimal cases for this.

Only problem is recognition. Same as CPLS, which everyone hates.
Cool thing is that the aforementioned d-layer corner just needs to be there, not oriented in any way.

You really should do something while doing this, though, whether it's inserting an edge, orienting the d-layer corner, etc. The recognition should be as useful as possible.

Phil asked me for an example of the above

Scramble: U' B L R2 D2 F' D' L' U B D' F' L' U2 R B2 U' R2 U2 R L U' D F' U
x2
B' L' D2 B' U F2 (6)
U' L U' L2 U' L' (6/12)

U2 L' - put DBL in (2/14), max number of moves needed, btw
U D L' U L D'(6/20) reduce to 2-gen. one of 6 cases, recog'd like CPLS "should be." More explanation on recognizing later, as well as individual cases.

gogogo 2gen party!

I'm busy making algs for the whopping six cases now.
(I obviously took longer than 15s on that EOLine 0.o )

Just throwing this here for Phil until the next time I can work on this.
For the sake of recognition, the "CP" stage will be with the DFL corner either there, or UFL.

So yeah. Block on right is done, and DBL is in place.
If there's still a d-layer corner on U (1/5 chance), then AUF it to UFL.
