hi,i've been practicing 7x7 alot, but i seem to be having trouble hitting sub 10,like today i got 10:08.xx so close >_< i believe my centers are : 5:00 and my edges are 4:00,on that particular solve i was at the 3x3 stage at 9min,any tips on either getting centers or edges faster ? all help would be much appreciated.

You should do an experiment:
Do a couple of solves where you turn slowly, but pay a lot of attention to your look ahead
Do a couple of solves where you turn as fast as possible, without paying attention to look ahead

Then see which one works better for you

My times are about 3:30 + 2:00 + 1:00 and I use SPAVG for the first 4 centers, AVG for inner edges followed by AVG for outer edges, pairs and/or keyhole + 4LLL

For more tips you should post a description/video of your typical solve

My main problem with the 7x7x7 is re-aligning te cube before the next turn. In the heat of solving I get too excited sometimes and I keep misaligning the middle layers so some turns become impossible without re-aligning first. Maybe we both should try slow turning trying to focus on lookahead. I haven't had any sub-10 solves yet either, but I don't practice 7x7x7 as much as I should.

Sub-10 7x7 is not that difficult in 20 or so tries you should get it.

I am so happy to see that you have graced this thread with a post so full of insight and advice.

On-Topic:
I am around 8 Minutes, which isn't as good as I want to be, but for edge pairing maybe you could solve the 12 edges as if they were 5x5 (only the inner 3 edge pieces into pairs) then add on the outer ones like 5x5 solve. (Not sure if this is what AVG was talking about in his post, but it works for me)

As for centers I do recommend learning how to block build the centers, that helped me a lot.

And finally, using a good method for 3x3 will always help, I would reccomend Intuitive F2L, 2-Look OLL, and 2-Look PLL at least.

Since the 7x7 is so well made, solving it like a 3x3 shouldn't take more then 30-45 seconds.

Hope this helps ^_^
