4x4 Last 2 Edges

I'm trying to learn 4x4 for my comp this weekend and I keep getting stuck on this step. I will attach pictures of how far I have gotten, and then can someone please explain my next steps? Also, the corners on the 3x3 part of the solve were perfectly aligned to the edges in this solve, but what happens when they aren't?

I used the JPerm tutorial of the Yau method but I can't understand what he does in this part.

Very simple L2E:
1. Put both edges into the FL and FR positions of the E-layer, so that the top edge in the left pair is the same as the top edge in the right pair (L' U L in your second picture)
2. Use Uw' (flipping algorithm) Uw to pair the edges

Put them both in the middle layer. So from the orientation of the second pic do L’ U L to get them both adjacent in the middle layer. Then do a wide u’, flip, and wide u

(Except at 4x4 (compared to my 3x3 avg, I should avg 33, but I average 1:20))

OK I've been trying different scrambles and I'm still struggling with the last few edges. How do I put them in without messing up the yellow edges?

Don't solve the cube before you solve the last 2 edges. Once you get to last 2 edges, setup into the Slice-Flip-Slice case and then do it before solving the rest.

What do you mean by not messing up the edges? If you mean trying to preserve the yellow cross, I don’t think it’s worth it. For the pictures, I’d insert with F’ L F L’ for the first pic, and R U2 R’ for the second one. Then slice, flip, slice.
