Hey. I am trying out both the 6 pair and the 2 pair edge systems and am having a problem with the piece I need constantly being in the same u/d level as the one I need to pair. The system I used before involved a lot of R2 or L2 -- I only use to do the top and bottom centers and leave the others in horizontal pairs until I had 4 pairs on top and 3 on bottom.

I am confused as to what the moves are to solve this quickly. I have found some on the reccomended sites (used the search first of course and came up with big cube and chris) but they seem to be way too time consuming to do everytime I run into the problem....pretty sure I am just not getting it. Can someone please help me out here by pointing out which part of the reccommended pages address this problem.

okay, so I need to do some revision because I seem to be getting it about 1 out of every three....must be doing something incorrectly. Thanks for your input.

edit: or maybe I get it...... you can use a (R2) and (d2or u2) to slice that peice and continue looking the complimentary piece???? This seems to work.

okay...I now understand what I was missing and will post it in case someone in the future is as confused as I was over this silly little thing. I was doing the same move whether the cube in the upper level r or upper level l....obviously leading to my problem.

From Dan's cube station link.....first iteration diagram http://www.cubestation.co.uk/cs2/index.php?page=4x4x4/edges

The move I was looking for was U' F' U F which is the corresponding one to R U' R when in the top row (D F D' F and R 'D R' from the bottom row used for matching up the u level block -- and reverse them when doing the d level block.

Thanks guys!!!!
