Haven't posted here in a while.

So I usually cube with my white or black DIY type As but once in a while I use my black DIY type D. The only problem is that it pops a lot, even when the screws are fully tightened. I realize others have mentioned this fact about type Ds. I also rarely use my first storebought cube that is fairly loose, obviously doesn't pop, and cuts corners somewhat well. After reading about all the mods and hybrids I decided to put the storebought cubies on the type D while retaining the type D's core and centers.

The new cube is just as fast but never pops now! Truly an amazing cube now! The cubies from the type D on the storebought center and core is also a good cube too. Who knew mixing these like this made them both way better than before. If no one has done this before I highly recommend it.

I did the same with my type A and my store-bought cube. The one with the type A core and store-bought pieces is really loose, feels tight, and it popped and it took a while to find one of the pieces. The one with the type A pieces and the store-bought core is really fast and doesn't want to pop. This cube is actually amazing and i might just use it forever now. It can cut maybe a 35 degree turn, estimated. The type A core can cut a 40 degree turn, but has the tendency to pop.

Both cubes lock up very rarely and cut corners between 30-35 degrees (guess). Before the DIY type D locked up all the time and as I said, popped pretty frequently. I prefer cubes that I can turn with more force, but the type D would have been great for those that have a lighter touch. I still need to work on getting my turns more clean though.

Just tried the hybrid. Sucks. Jams like a huge female dog.

LOL, sorry to hear that pentrixter! I must have just been lucky with my combination of cubes. My tension on the type D was fully tightened so maybe you need to tighten yours a little. Sorry it didn't work well for you.

Okay, so after using this new hybrid for about a week it began to suck...I mean really suck! It was amazing at first, but unfortunately it got worse and did not stay consistent. I too have seen its wrath of jamming like a "huge female dog!" Oh well. Thought I had something good there. Back to my DIY As.
