Hello, I’m new to speed cubing and started 1 month ago and learning cfop on a 3x3.

My current best is 52 seconds and getting better all the time. I am currently spending most of my training understanding cfop efficient moves.

I just like challenging hobbies where I see my progress. It’s also cool that people are so amazed that I can solve a 3x3.

try new cubes other than the 3by3
i agree with him but only if you have a very very bad cube like a rubik's brand or something like that. other than that if you want to buy a new cube go for the mf3rs of little magic . they are great budged cubes. you might need a good magnetic cube when you are around 18 seconds.

Personally, I use 4 look last layer and my PB is 27.16 seconds, so it might be easier to use 4LLL than CFOP as most of my friends learn CFOP but have a hard time identifying the cases. And, if you get sub-60 everytime and improve everytime, I would recomend getting a better cube, if you don't have one all ready. I use a Gan 356 air Sm, it's a bit pricey, but it work very nicely.

What are your current worst case steps?

e.g. cross, f2l, 3 look OLL, 3 look PLL

when those were my worst case steps (6 look last layer), I averaged around 35 seconds

Hey, welcome! I'm also a 37-year-old who's new to cubing. I thought I was the only old guy just starting out. Good to see I'm not alone!

Seems like an appropriate place to chip in with some inspiration:

I was 37 when I started cubing and now (four years later) my PB single is 11.27

Slow but sure progress is where the cool kids hang out.

Good luck!

Yep, we're relatively rare compared to the younger folks but there are plenty of us around in this hobby. I'm 51, started down the path of speedsolving a little over 3 years ago. Not quite sub :20 yet overall but I'm slowly edging my way there. Enjoy the journey!
