Ok, I've looked all over the place, but I cannot find any info on how to do the 20x20x20 centers. The first four centers anyway. I've found several videos showing how to solve the last two centers with commutators, ect. However, I need help on the first four centers.

Here is how I do a 5x5x5 center. Using the center piece, i make a 1x2 block. I then make two more of these, and put them on either side of the first 1x2 block I made. that gets me to a 2x3 block. Then i just make a 1x3 block to finish the center up.

Is there some way I am suppose to apply that to a 20x20 or any big cube for that matter? Right now, the way I am trying to do the 20x20 centers is by making 1x20 blocks, starting on the outside and working my way in towards the middle. I have a VERY hard time finding the right piece, out of the 400 cubies on a face. (ok, technically the centers are just 324 cubies, since the edges don't matter)

I found this post by qqwref on a thread about commutators and big cubes:

You can't move only two center pieces, but because you can't tell center pieces apart you can do 3-cycles that look like you are only moving two. Let xR and yR be the xth and yth slices on R, then try this:
xR U' yR U xR' U' yR' U'

For edges you can interchange two pieces but there are no commutators to do so, just an algorithm. Letting r be some slice on R and l be the corresponding slice on L:
r U2 r U2 F2 r F2 l' U2 l U2 r2
(This only works if centers are solved, otherwise it might mess them up a bit.)

Does this refer to all the centers, or just the last two?

I guess my real question is what is a better way of doing a big cube center than long single lines.

Hope somebody can help,

Make lines starting from the centers, that's what I do on mega-cubes.
(I don't do them that often though.)

You do the outsides first?
Its easier to build like this, starting from the middle:

[.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.]

Then:
[.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.]

Then:
[.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][x][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][x][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][x][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][x][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][x][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][x][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][x][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][x][x][x][.][.][.][.]
[.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.]

Ect.
It's pretty straight forward.
Recognizing the different orbitals of the pieces could be a bi-atch though.
Hope it helps!

Piece a cacke, if you are solving on the F side and have the pieces in U, then just turn U until the piece is in line with the line you are solving and you will see a matching gap.

Piece a cacke, use the spoiler tag =)

[ spoiler] message [ /spoiler] but no spaces in the tags..

Thanks for the help guys. I'll try to start from the middle and go out, maybe that will be a little easier.

I think I do this already. In the back of my mind anyway. I don't give it much thought haha.

Edit: actually just tried it, and I am having a problem figuring out if the right piece is in the U layer. I will think it goes with the line I have on F face, but when I bring it down, it's one or two off. Unless I count how many over and how many down it is, I can't seem to find the right one. Surely I'm doing something wrong and I don't really have to count every one of them like that.

Since I doubt you're trying to speedsolve a 20x20, simplicity is probably better than speed. I just count over on things like that, or you can move it down and check (guess & check).
