Hello, so 2 sided recognition is something I want to learn because it can be fast. But 1 thing that I don't have an answer to is how I can recognise AUF from 2 sides.
Like in G perms and R perms with headlights/block at the back. Does anyone know a good way to recognise it? Or should I just do 2 sided recognition for the pll and then go to the position to execute the alg and then recognise AUF?

If you recognize the PLL, you will also know the AUF ;-)

Do you know the AUF for all PLL?
Cubehead has a nice PDF about it, but more with the focus on the PLL itself that the 2 sided recognition.
but for all PLL he marked the part that stays the same and that you can use for AUF recognition. (sometimes only one part of the pattern is marked)

This one is very good for the 2 side recognition and has also a page about 2 side recognition of the AUF
But to be honest, I don't really understand that part, so I just try to recognize the PLL and then I know the AUF for each PLL.

You could just do the Plls a lot and figure them out. Shouldn’t be too hard. Just do the alg until it solves and find something recognizable. Like for the R perm with headlights on front, the edge in the front will stay there. You can also do Auf before you do the alg to see all 4 cases for Auf after the alg.

This could also be helpful

I'm not that good but if I see that the PLL is in the right orientation to do my alg, I try do either align the lower layer with d/d'/d2 (wide moves) to the right orientation before I do the PLL or try to remember the AUF moves to do after the pll.

If I need to do some U/U' moves to execute my PLL from the right angle, then I usually try to remember the AUF for after the PLL.

Some algs like Z Perm or Ja end with U moves. If you use these, you better think about AUF before executing them and maybe you can save that last move.

You should not be using wide D moves to align them. Just use AUFs.
