I just learned the 2-look OLL and PLL from Badmephisto's videos, but it only seems to work about half the time. Examples of problems:

I'm doing OLL. I get a chameleon, so I do r U R' U' r' F R F' and I get an anti-sune. I do R U R' U R U2 R' and get an assymetric cross. I give up.

I can get to the PLL stage most of the time, though.
But I can only solve it about half the time. I orient the last layer, now it's time to permute. I find two corners with the same color stickers facing me and do x R' U R' D2 R U' R' D2 R2 x'. It's supposed to come up with one of the 6 cases for algorithms I already know. But about half the time, it goes to a different case where I have to look up the appropriate Fridrich PLL algorithm online to solve it...

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I watched the videos several times so I don't think that's the problem

That algorithm requires you to hold the two unoriented corners on the left side of the cube. Specifically LUF and LBF. It looks like you executed it with the unoriented corners on the front (LUF and RUF), which indeed yields an anti-sune. Put the unsolved corners on the left and it will solve the OLL as it should.

and I get an anti-sune. I do R U R' U R U2 R' and get an assymetric cross. I give up.

You're using the wrong algorithm. :) The one you typed in above is Sune. Anti-Sune is solved by first placing the unsolved corners in the ULF, URF, and URB positions. Then running:

R' U' R U' R' U2 R

I can get to the PLL stage most of the time, though.

You need to hold those two matching stickers in the *back* of the cube, not facing you. If you hold them in the front, funny things happen, as you have found out. :)
