Hey guys this is a solve of 18.01 seconds. My average is usually mid 20's and i wanted to know how to improve. So please watch and tell me how to. I use 2 look oll and 1 look pll but in this situation the oll was only one look. Anyway i really want to be sub 20 thanks in advance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKbFz3t3Qoo dont know how to embed. And aother vid of 18.83 done a few minutes after. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFx3tT__K7w . All these times make feel like im closer to sub 20.

Every persons different and i hate that guide. Did you even watch the videos. Just tell me how to improve. I wouldn't of gone through the trouble of making this if i found anything very helpful already

This has been said thousands of times before, and i have no clue why you haven't listened, the key to getting better is Practice. Yupp, that's it, just practice.

Use search engine next time. And there is a great explanation on how to do this here: http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?14009-How-to-be-sub-20
Use grammar next time.

If this were a standard "MAKE ME FSTER PLZZZ!!1!!1!!" thread then you'd be correct in your response, but he included a video so maybe you should watch it and then give him some help. A thread asking how to improve that contains videos or information on the splits of the person's solves are usually well received. He clearly knows how to be sub-20 since this solve is very nearly sub-18. Think before posting.

In the first video you F2L looked pretty fluid other than one pause. You were locking up a bit. What cube do you use? The second video had a pretty big pause in F2L. I couldn't really tell what PLLs you had because you're left-handed. I think the first was A and the second was definitely U. Your OLL recognition was good, but using 2-look that's not hard at all. PLL was okay. Recognition comes with solves and a little training. Speed comes with drilling.

TPS and look ahead should be a little better to consistently sub-20. Learn some of the easy OLLs if you don't want to commit to learning full OLL right now.

What's your real average?

First off I apologize for the grammar. I was using my phone to post that.
Second I was not trying to be mean and I know in the thread I posted Most of what he needed to know was in the post and and any left out information he also needed. So if I "offended" you in a way some how I'm sorry.

@pwnAge Please don't be rude because as I said before I was using my phone to post it and I wanted to make a quick response.(I was just trying to help :( ) A really good way is to always look ahead just like what cincyaviation said. Practice F2L all the time and try to train your mind to do the F2L pair itself while you search for another pair.(Look ahead pretty much). As freshcuber said you definitely are able to become sub 20.
PS. What cube do you use?

@Kirjiva I lol'ed when you said that!

I wasn't offended in any way but giving a poor response like that, regardless of the device you're using, should be left for the thoughtlessly made threads. He's at least giving us something to work with. I post from my iPod Touch all the time and I don't lower the quality of my post in any way other than usually telling people what specifically to search or a vid to watch just because it's hard to link on my iPod.

Finally the help is rolling in. Thanks everyone except for kirjava (jkin thanks for the entertainment). I use a guhong but im waiting for my lubix lube to ocme in the mail. I feel its a really good cube but it would be better when my lube arrives. I am a lefty yes. And the first perm was A. I use badmephistos algs. I normally average mid 20-21 if you look in my op. But thanks again so i need to work on recog pll and f2l lookahead kk thanks

Suggestion: If you want help, don't post videos that reflect faster times than your average. You are working against your purpose when you do this. For example, if your problem were PLL, people would never be able to tell you that since you selected a faster, easier solve enabled by a U-Perm.

A slower solve from a better camera angle might be more revealing too--I found that getting to sub-20 was prevented by inefficient F2L choices. Going full speed like this makes it difficult to tell what you're doing.

Yeah, I second this. In the video you are sub-20, so it's hard to give tips on how to get to sub-20 if nobody can see your weak areas.

IAMWEB i would have been sub 18 by now had i not stopped cubing in august. I took a break from august to January so i recently came back. But yea ok ill make a video of like a 20 or worse so you can see my flaws.

if you use 2LOLL, you should probably try to invest time in some OLLs... a lot of them are very easy and the recognition is only a split second slower than a EO and a OCLL. for PLLs, if you use badmephisto's, there are a few meh ones unless he's updated them.

E- dont use the sexy move one, use the RUD one.
R b?- the lefty R perm, there are much faster algs than the mirror.
J b?- the lefty J perm, there are much faster algs than the mirror.

i dont like a few of his PLLs, but i think its personal preference. make sure your OCLLs are fast too. for pi i was using f sexy f F sexy F, which i believe i learned from badmephisto, but R U2 R2 U' R2' U' R2 U2 R is much faster (hopefully thats right lol).

also, from your first video, it seems like you're turn speed is alright... its on par with my own. i think the difference between you and i is that i have a more efficient f2l? it seemed like it took a lot of moves for you to create pairs and insert them? maybe you can look at some F2L algs for your bad cases and try to improve your intuition? you should know very well which cases take forever intuitively. a good example would be corner inserted and oriented correctly and the edge in the top layer. there are 2 cases, both which can be solved with the beginner method mentality, but one of them you can solve without any cube rotations. if you were to break down and use the beginner method for this case, it would include 2 cube rotations, but its able to be solved with a very fingertricky 2-gen set of moves, and its still intuitive.

edit: also, there is a big difference between turnspeed and turn agression. calm down but still turn fast. dont try to rush so much during f2l.

Maggot you got the best post so far thanks. There are a few perms I don't like from baephisto like the n's and h so thanks. But I do agree with you I feel my f2l is indeed very inefficient so I will invest some time in some lags but I also feel medium hard cases take me a lot of moves. I just did an f2l and it took me 35 in total what shoal I aim for per pair and how can I lower it other than algs.

for me, like i said, i improved my 'intuition' by looking at algs. just in case you didnt understand my example, let me get the actual stuff.

this case can be done y U' L' U L U y' R U' R' (like the beginners method, hopefully thats right)

but if you can learn to identify, you can eliminate cube rotations and get a 2-gen intuitive case.
R U R' U2 R U R' U2 R U' R

for this, i treat the 1st U2 as a one handed U2' with a finger push. just simple tricks like this.

File:F2L24.png

with beginner intuition, i would do R U2 R', notice that i have a case where i have to hide the corner, if its the last pair i would cube rotate to put the open slot in the back right so i can hide the corner with R', make the pair and insert. and if it wasnt the last pair and i had the back right already open, i would still have to cube rotate to insert the pair. however, there is a nice trick which is also fairly intuitive. do a sexy to change the orientation of the corner and BAM! look at how awesome it is. R U R' U' R U2 R' U2 R U R'. can be done fairly quickly, a lot more friendly than a cube rotation for a last pair.

also, try to avoid getting stuck with bad cube rotation. it took me a LONG time to learn how to avoid getting caught doing a y2. you should never have to use y2. just in case you do use it. (in the f2l)
hopefully it helps!

edit: sorry the images are working, so examples are from the wiki in the F2L section. 1st example is F2L 25, 2nd is F2L 24.
