How long did it take for you to get sub 20 seconds?

Hi Everybody

I get an average of one minute per solve (I use LBL method) and I'm wondering how long it took you speedcubers to get sub 20 seconds from when you started to solve the Rubik's Cube. I'm starting to learn Fridrich and those algorithms I've learned helped me a lot. So when you guys got sub 20, did you know full fridrich or what?

i suggest you use the search function for these type of queries cause they have been asked a lot times (me included)...

well this how it breaks down...

after learning the f2l you start learning the 2,3 and 4 look for the last layer...(use the search for this)

meaning slowly learning all the algs...thats it...

and after you got the basic 4LLL down you go for learing all the plls then all the olls...

though you can get sub 20 w/o all the olls and plls...

and the time taken to get to sub 20 depends on practice really...you wont get magically sub 20 even if you know full fridrich...

depends more upon the cuber than the method...

i am by no means a sub 20 solver...when i came to the forum i couldnt go down from 1:30 and now i am averaging abt 45-48 secs...and thats because i havent really got down my looking ahead thing...else i can get sub 35 (did separate time for each stage)

currently i am learning all the plls (10/21) :)

guess its practice that plays the big role than anything else....

I know all of that already

1. I searched these forums "getting sub 20" and I found no results.

2. I didn't ask HOW to get sub 20, I ask how LONG did it take for someone to get sub 20.

3. I already know all the steps to getting sub 20, I've posted it before.....

(No offense for all of this:D)

well uhmmm then my bad...but ill stick to what i said...depends on the cuber mostly...

There was a very similar topic a month or two ago....

And it all depends on the cuber and how much time they have.

Personally it took me like 8 months or something, but i only get say 2 hours a week to cube. In the other topic like this there were people who got sub 20 in 2 months...

I joined like a week ago and I didn't find anything in the searches...

How do you know how long you cube? Do you set aside 2 hours every week? :D No I'm just kidding.

Oh okay well I don't get to cube a lot (although I do it at school and my friends telling me "get off the cube!" everyday) so it'll probably take me like 4 months..... :(

My first sub twenty solve was this month so three months, but i'm still around a 27 second average.

It took me two months to get a sub-20 average.
Now I'm averaging sub-15. But I don't know all the OLL yet.

:eek::eek::eek:

How come? Are you skipping school for cubing:D Just joking

Oh yeah me too:D:D.....

It's summer here and I have nothing to do so I cube all day. Even though my hands are already tired.....
I was still averaging 24-26 seconds last month in my first competition (look at my WCA profile).... But I made it to Sub-15 this week.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:That's amazing! Last summer, I cubed every day and was stuck at 1 min (LBL) with no improvement. Learning new methods did reduce my times a lot. I don't really practice speedsolving constantly though. Most of the time, I randomly play with the cube or don't have it with me.
