    US Nationals 2027

I'm honestly not quite sure how to source good data for the flights, and I don't know how I'd quantify championships either. Might look into it some this evening but it seems less trivial than finding which cities have had 5 or more comps.

    US Nationals 2027

Was curious to visualize this, so I queried the DB for all possible cities and put it on this map: https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/possible-locations-for-cubing-nats-2027_1460749#4/34.452218/-59.941406 Might update it or create a new map when more hints are revealed.

We need to fight back. (Serious)

I'm the person who left this comment, and I've seen this screenshot posted several places. So I do want to clarify it just to make sure everyone understands what I mean. During the conversation, Abdullah said something to the effect of "Clock needs to be removed and we've been trying do to this...

    7-Simul Memo Trainer - cafox2003 fork

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see your message earlier. You've probably figured this out by now, but you can just ignore the 3rd letter and the rest of the memo should be the same. There's multiple ways you can calculate memo, so as long as execution is the same, it shouldn't matter.

Bringing Back Clock! (W2PA) [Voting Results Out]

The WCA's response by Oliver Hexter mentions this ("We are taking the time to reflect properly on everything we've heard and this remains an ongoing conversation"). I also recall Abdullah Gulab expressing this sentiment during the award ceremony at NAC or in his interview on the live stream, not...

Bringing Back Clock! (W2PA) [Voting Results Out]

I don't want to discourage you guys, I think it's great that you want to find ways to keep clock competition active and relevant. But do you really think creating a new organization is the most effective step at this point? The WCA has said the decision of clock's removal is not finalized yet...

Hey everyone, Like many of y'all, I'm very disappointed with the announcement of clock being removed from the WCA. So as one does, I asked my gf to make a...

Quantifying 3x3 Metrics For a Machine Learning Course

I'm currently taking an Intro to Machine Learning course, and my semester-long project focuses on using ML to help find new (human usable) 3x3 methods. I need some help coming up with metrics on how to quantify 3x3 methods. I definitely want to post my findings once the project is complete, but...

    Request: Cubing Jeopardy Questions

I'm going to be hosting cubing related Jeopardy for the cubing club at my university. Does anyone have any good ideas for questions? We've done this before and it went pretty well. But for this time, we'd love to have an outside perspective to give us fresh ideas that we may have considered...

What’s a “Good Tip” You Learned Too Early That Ended Up Hurting You?

When I first started learning CFOP, I was under the assumption that the best practice was to learn F2L, learn 2 look OLL/PLL, and then immediately start grinding full OLL/PLL. I thought that if you didn't know full OLL/PLL, you basically weren't a real cuber (I was 11 at the time). So I learned...

    7-Simul Memo Trainer - cafox2003 fork

Hey everyone! I've been learning 7-Simul and I wanted to use a trainer to practice my memo. Tommy Cherry's tutorial links to Joshua Marriott's trainer, and I found this to be a pretty good trainer. However, I found it confusing that the trainer expects you to memo with black upside down, and...

Hey everyone! My name is Caleb Fox and I'm vice president of the Cubing Club at Virginia Tech. We have casual weekly meetings on every Friday, and every third week we host unofficial competitions. We post our results on our website, which keeps track of our records and rankings. Our club has...

virtualcube.app - browser based virtual speedcubing with leaderboard, replays & customisable keybindings/graphics

Sorry for the late reply, I'm not on here much. For the type of colorblindness that I have, (red-green, which is the most common), I've found that The Cubicle's factory half bright shades work very well for me, they don't have any new colors but the shades are all pretty distinguishable. If...

virtualcube.app - browser based virtual speedcubing with leaderboard, replays & customisable keybindings/graphics

This is really neat! I'm curious what inspired the colorblind shades. As a colorblind cuber, I have a much easier time telling the colors apart. However, I still would have a harder time solving with the colorblind shades because there is no yellow on top. Is there any particular reason you...

Requirement for record solves to be filmed?

The difference with speedrunning is that it traditionally happens at home, whereas cubing wrs occur at competitions. Of course, judges can miss some things, but it feels like a strange requirement for competitors. Even if most top level solvers can film their solves, there's always cases like...

Kalindu Sachintha Wijesundara19.67 FMC MEAN -

If his BLD results are illegitimate, it's very interesting that he would cheat while his FMC results are still under questioning. His last 5BLD comp was 3 months ago, so it doesn't seem too unreasonable to legitimately achieve those times, but the perfect success rate definitely raises an eyebrow.
