R.I.P. sub-14 avg... I didn't even get sub-15. :( But then I went home and got 13.34 avg of 50 and this, so I don't know what to think. XP Still made second round no problem. I did get a nice OH avg (29.42) and a couple sub-27 singles though, and 2x2 didn't suck.

Chris. He's a pro n00b. :p

Oh, sweet! I think I'll revise that to "make finals" then. :p Quite a long shot, but something to go for. At the rate I've been improving I could be sub-13 by then, if I practice.

I'm going! Goals: 3x3: sub-14 avg, sub-13 single, make second round (not sure how many they're advancing though, so that could change) OH: sub-30 avg, sub-27 single 2x2: Don't suck.

Yeah, that's exactly what got me hooked too. :) What do you guys think about a tutorial specifically geared toward people who already know beginner's? It could spend a little less time on CMLL and recognizing bad edges, since they're already sort of doing that, and could possibly spend more...

I think teaching beginners a corner's first method could be a really good way to get them started. That being said, I think the beginners method still provides a really good intro to the cube. The main problem is people assume that you should go to CFOP from there. I met somebody yesterday at...

A mere 6 hours here. :p Any goals for the competition?

Yah, I've even got a few, and I'm only sub-15. (but never a 21. That's just insane. O_O)

PDF's suggestions are all really good. For the second case I normally do M' U R U2' R' U R U' r' though.

Does anyone have any good resources on influencing ULUR in 2 flip cases, or is it best just to try a bunch of stuff and figure it out?

It's a lot harder to wrap your head around it as a beginner. It's a bit more standard to do Beginner's and then Roux, but it's still possible to start with it. For me I didn't learn CMLL. Now here I am at sub-15 and I still have 3/7 sets left. :/ I guess at least I know where I should put my...

And now a sub-9 average in the final. I was still rooting for a sub-8 average, but oh well. He still won. :P

As a Roux user I support this decision. :P Really though, you get the freedom of blockbuilding, move efficient, M slices are awesome, etc. Also the more you understand the cube, the better you will get with Roux. Roux is just awesome.

Reconstruction: The really neat thing is that I had a lot of pauses and the whole solve was only 4 TPS. If I had better lookahead/TPS and brought it up to 8 TPS it would have been sub-5. (I obviously can't do that yet, but I'm convinced even more so now that Roux can easily be as good as CFOP)
