Over the past week or so I've been messing around with UEF8E on 6x6. It's one of countless weirdo borderline meme methods in the ss wiki currently, and while it has some major flaws (needing to memo 4 wings & needing to do a longer restoration step between F8E and L4E), the method has enough...

VLS doesn't save a look, ZB does.

Recons which have been available on 333.fm for a few days now; 18 22 20

BQD recently updated the 333.fm website to now include official reconstructions! Having all of this stuff in once place is going to be super nice long term :) https://333.fm/wca/reconstruction

I haven't done MBLD or (serious) 3BLD in nearly a decade, but at the very least, trying to physically warm up seems silly when you're spending 30-40 mins not turning a single cube for your MBLD attempt. For comp performance stuff, I'm of the opinion that all you can really do is just practice at...

I lowered the 5x5 FMC UWR today with a slightly new method compared to what trangium and paul are doing (though this particular solve isn't the best showcase since I got a mostly useless L4C skip). Final result was 94 moves across a 3-4 hour time window with short 5-10 min breaks...

Before consuming this, the reader is assumed to already be at least somewhat familiar with the system outlined in this video (or this thread if you prefer written guides). The method covered here is very similar, but the major improvement comes from no longer needing to do a BLD style parity...

19 21 21 = 20.33 OcR/WR5 reconstructions

(Alternative title; EO better smh) I've previously covered this topic in my original thread on DR back in 2022. Since then, I've gotten a lot better at the event, and by extension have a better understanding of EO as a whole. Combined with one interesting discovery relating to "RLFB hackery"...

Wasn't quite able to tie the 51, but at least it's still a UWR improvement! Spent a few more hours than last time, mostly because it took me more than 2.5h to find the HTR centers solution I ended up using lol I'm not at all convinced I entered redux anywhere close to optimally after the first...

Hmm, seems like you're right. I guess I falsely assumed that since the redux worked with NISS that the 3x3 stage wouldn't be an issue. UWR still stands at 53 then! NISS will no longer be used until 3x3 stage for my attempts I suppose :P

When doing FMC with DR, it's not uncommon to get a scramble with lot's of EO in 4-5 but only one EO in 3, or a scramble with lots of EO in 3-4 with a 2 move EO available. For scrambles like these, you shouldn't limit yourself to just checking one move continuations from the shortest EO even...

First time I've tracked more than an avg12 for FMC (I'll be deleting the session soon because avg100 is either dead or guaranteed not going to be good), so I have PB's for avg25 and avg50 now :D

Only just saw this :P I don't know if I can personally be bothered, but I do think any world class DR/HTR solver would be good at this on scrambles that aren't super quarter turn heavy since they're likely to follow some mini DR structure

No problems Mike! I'll get started on the new set of scrambles now instead :)

Once again there seems to be some mismatch between the scrambles ITT and the ones from the solution submission area (it also gave 2024-05 instead of 04 but I don't see an 05 thread) I'll just post my solution for the 1st one here for now. Might do the rest of these scrambles but I'd like to...

It's been a while since I've felt compelled to post an FMC related guide. Recently, a decent amount of progress has been made in the EO>DR department, so I feel like documenting the more current take on EO>DR stuff is worthy of my time Intro Traditionally, when trying to go from EO to DR...
