Okay, I’d just like to start by saying that this incident doesn’t represent the whole conservative population. Those are only the extremists who think that it’s okay to wreck other people’s things when something doesn’t go their way, just like BLM doesn’t represent the entire liberal population when they decide it’s a good idea to steal from stores and burn things.
Secondly, @DNF_Cuber, you can’t say “everyone on the forum was completely brainwashed.” That’s a huge and terrible generalization to make, which is also including the people who don’t know anything about American politics or the American government.
Thirdly, I think that the people who were peacefully standing outside the Capitol should have the right to do so. I’m sure that not everybody that was there that day was involved in wrecking parts of the Capitol. I don’t think that the people who were vandalizing things should have taken it that far, and I think that they should be taken into custody/fined.
That is what the justice system is for, which, may I add, some of the Democrats are trying to get rid of, but they love the police force when it is convenient for them, such as in this situation.
So finally, I partially agree with the premise that the rioters at the Capitol were Trump supporters. I’m sure that a large majority of them were, but I’d also bet that there were a few members of the crowd who weren’t necessarily there for the same reason(s) that the others were. I hope that I don’t come off as rude in anyway, I just think that everybody needs to hear what both sides have to say.
There also won’t be a black and white. Politics are very gray in the sense that there are so many different people who believe so many different combinations of things that you can’t generalize people, like you did, @DNF_Cuber.
@BenChristman1
First of all impressive job exceeding the character limit. I am a lot less annoyed with you now that you are admitting most of the rioters were trumpers.
However, some of your points are invalid. BLM has not been burning things and robbing from stores, in fact, most of the looting was just taking advantage of the protests as a cover.
I also said I FELT LIKE everyone was brainwashed, not that they were. Also, Democrats do not want to get rid of the justice system, they/we just want to reduce the crimes done by police by reducing their funding for unnecessary weapons.
Actually, BLM was burning things and robbing from stores. People who identify as BLM supporters were seen taking entire shelves from stores in the Twin Cities after the death of George Floyd.
And the burning was for sure very real. I have family members who live just mere blocks away from where BLM supporters were burning trash dumpsters in the middle of the street. They had to leave their home because they felt unsafe where they were. In my opinion, people should feel safe in their own homes.
While not all Democrats want to get rid of the justice system, there are some that do. I'd also like to know what you think is an "unnecessary weapon." Is a gun and a taser unnecessary? I think that police officers should always be able to defend themselves and others, and if that means that they need to kill somebody to prevent them killing dozens of other people, then that's what they have to do.
Their job is to protect people, but they can't do that if they don't have the resources necessary to do so. I think that taking away a police officer's defenses is a direct violation of the second amendment.
And I'm pretty sure that BLM has been looting stores. Take a look at this video. It's almost 9 minutes of the worst cases of BLM supporters stealing things from innocent people.
I really wasn’t trying to argue. I just wanted to make sure that it was clear that not all Republicans support the protest, and that I don’t think ANTIFA or BLM was solely responsible for the attack on the Capitol. Also, you never answered my questions, so this makes it look like you just don’t have an answer for them. (I’m not saying that’s true, that’s just what it looks like from my point of view.)
I think Trump was a relatively good president in terms of helping the economy, but I don't agree with the decisions of looters and committers of similar crimes.
I didn’t answer any of your questions because I was answering other questions instead, my apologies. What were your questions?
I would agree that in some sense this is a battle not worth fighting, but in others it is completely clear that no antifa or BLM supporters would storm the capital, it being the most sacred institution in our government.
