My first ever cn solve in my cstimer session! I did green cross.
Hope to be relatively good at cn eventually because I really suck at planning cross and cn is good for big cubes too.

In this scramble, there's 3 pieces solved, and there's 1 new cycle.
The equation [24 - 1 - (3) + (1)] = 21, but I have 22 letters...
UI QJ EM KN BP CV DS FW LX DT GT
Just so I can be sure, when I finish the first cycle do I do D? Then I would go to T and do G and then go back to T right??? I did exactly this and it worked perfectly but it doesn't make sense with the equation, so a clarification would be very helpful!

Apart from this, I'm feeling quite confident in my ability to get the correct memo for both wings and centers and I have memorised all the algorithms that I need (btw when I say memo I mean writing it down on paper, I can't remember this many letters for such a long period of time yet!!!).

Tomorrow I'm gonna start doing memo for a fully scrambled cube, and I think it's gonna take a lot of attempts to get confident with that...

You do not need the second D, because you already solved that target with DS. It does work in terms of solving the cube, because you just solve D again with a different white piece. In this case it would not really matter because you have parity and the D fixed that, but a more reliable and intuitive way of dealing with parity is just adding a B/C/D at the end of memo (so TG TB instead of DT GT). This way you only add the extra letter when necessary.

Ok I'm back
And I'm literally only practicing 4bld yay!!!
I'm now up to the stage where I'm doing centers and edges separate practice, and it's going well. I find edges more difficult than centers but in the end I got a success for edges. I'll try to do 3 each day until maybe Friday or so and then try FULL SOLVES!!!

Oh yeah I forgot to mention my comp for bld is this one:
And I'm doing 3bld, 4bld and mbld, with the cumulative cutoffs being 20:00, 1:30:00 (30:00 per cube) and 1:00:00 (bruh obviously) respectively, with 12:00 cutoff for 3bld second round (which I hope to make and would comfortably manage 5 solves in).

In case anyone is unaware, I can't do a lot of cubing yet (especially big cubes and relays) because my hands aren't fully recovered yet, but it's getting better each week, and blindfolded events are more fun anyway so that's all right.

eeeeasy dubs
PR mean which is PB mean by 5 seconds (my previous PR was my PB), as well as nearly 5 seconds faster single than my at home PB, but somehow only PR2 lol
I thought my PR streak was COOKED because these were like my 3rd, 4th, and 5th 6x6 solves of the last 1.5 months or so, and I'm really happy to announce that I successfully managed to keep the PR streak!!!

Also I sat next to Shen Flindell (he's been in a couple of Tingman videos), and he's the senior world record holder (is that what it's called? idrk) for big cubes and big bld I'm pretty sure. He got the WR mean right after I finished (2:48 I believe), it's awesome to see people who aren't just under 20 years old competing and being really good too.

I completely forgot to practice 4bld since the last post and haven't gotten around to doing full solves yet, but I think I'll be doing a lot more cubing in the next week because of the 2-week holidays now!

omg I keep having to re-edit this post there's one more thing - I have this comp next week:
And I hope to get another PR in something random (hopefully pyra? sub-10 single surely!!!!) at the SMALLEST COMP EVER (only 24 people?! That's completely unheard of in Australia!)

WHAT I JUST REALISED I CAN PODIUM LETS DO IT BOYS

Podium in 5x5 (second place) and megaminx (third) lol!!!
Got a sub-40 4x4 single in first round, my average was bad but I was really locked in, could've probably gotten another 1 or 2 sub-40s (I did in fact get 4 38s and 39s on hand scrambles warming up before, as well as a proper cstimer PB of 35.04 the day before).
5x5 was the most nervous I've ever been, I didn't know how fast the others would be so I wanted a 1:23 average or faster just to be safe... and it worked!
Also got a 3x3 PR average, always nice to get and WHAT I GOT SUB 10singleON PYRA FINALLY LESGOOOOOO
(my 3x3 PR single is still faster bruh)

Now we can get back on the 4BLD grind! PBF Brisbane is less than a month away and I haven't practiced any bld stuff in over a week

bruh I couldn't even do 3BLD before, but I just decided to give it a shot and HOLY IT WORKED?!?!? W

Yo should I go for the mean now? I mean there's two more attempts so I could try... maybe later - I'm BRAINDEAD right now after half an hour of 3BLD, an MBLD attempt (1/2 lol what a noob) and this 4BLD SUCCESS!!!!!!!

Still can't belive it, what the actual POOburger?!?!? I'm going for another one this afternoon once my brain is good to go again.

Woah nice yo!!!!
Thanks bro! I saw that you were super fast in the weekly comp with 2:30 or something if I remember correctly? That's INSANE!

If you don't mind could you give me some tips on how to practice 4BLD? What I'm doing right now is just centers/edges separately on a fully scrambled cube. My memo time was a bit over 21 minutes, so my exec was maybe 8:50 for the whole cube.

I think right now the only thing I need to do is practice those things more, but any little bit of advice would be very appreciated.

Sure happy to help. I have the current NR in my country for 4blind.

You can focus on your memo and reduce a lot of time there. Do you have a fixed letter pairs list?

You can also try sighted solves too, it helps iron out mistakes.

Yo what
Sub-16:00 memo??? I might actually be on something - I can't even do 2-cube MBLD but I'm just SO LOCKED IN on 4BLD!!!!!
22:48 success on my second attempt ((EXCEPT: I forgot to do corner parity loll but yay I know it wasn't a fluke yesterday!!))
1790996782164.webp
Obviously it's a DNF but I recorded it and it was funny because I saw the cube solved from my pov but then I realised... and it was super funny cause I celebrated early

Anyway it's a cool thing to send to my friends, I'm probably going to take a break now and do another attempt later (the third one in the weekly comp)

Edit: I also got this 3BLD solve earlier, PB4 and my best since I could start cubing again

Yeah ok 4BLD is officially COOKED (no more "4BLD is cooking my brain"!!!!)!!!

What should my goal be for the comp in 2 weeks? Sub-20? Sub-15?

The goal is a success in comp for sure, but once I get it I'll be SENDING it on the other solve/solves (if I do indeed manage to get a success in the first place, which is looking quite likely at this point!)

also I'm gonna get a mean next week in the weekly comp let's get it boys 💪💪💪

@abunickabhi what methods do you use for 4BLD and 5BLD? Is there some kind of 3-style for centers/wings? Because I imagine what I use (U2/r2/OP) is quite inefficient for fast solving.

**By the way the reason why I didn't write this on your profile is because I couldn't figure out how to do that

Okay bro WHAT - I was just going down a rabbit hole of looking at random WCA profiles and competitions, and I saw this guy
He had a 3:00.76 PR single for 3BLD on the 28th of September, and then 3.5 months later on the 10th of January he got a 26.61 single (💀)

WHAT IS THIS PROGRESSION?!?!? I know I've just started cubing properly again, but it's time to revisit the blindfolded goals that I set for myself at the start of the year.

This would mean learning full 3-style, right??? I know Javacuber and JPerm had some crazy fast 3BLD progression, so I know it's possible, but I also know that you can get to a 50 global with only M2/OP (Elliott Perkins has done this).

All of which was literally just "get a success in comp"

So, with 88 days left in this year, let's make:
My **Blind** Cubing Goals for 2026 (and perhaps slightly behond)
3BLD:
Average (global) sub-2:30, and then during the Christmas holiday time when I won't be doing any comps I will GRIND blind events, so I want to improve to maybe around 2:00?? Hopefully this isn't too ambitious...
4BLD: I firstly want that in-comp success in 2 weeks (duh) but I also want to average sub-12 by the end of the year, maybe sub-10 next year?

To be clear, I have no idea what the standards are for blindfolded, as in what times are bad (like not sub-20 on 3x3), okay (like sub-14 on 3x3), and good (like sub-10 on 3x3). So if I say sub-10 global on 4BLD I am speaking with 0 experience, so if this sounds stupid to experienced 4BLDers then sorry about that I guess I'll just have to see.

MBLD: 5 cubes in comp in 2 weeks (seeing as I have never solved more than 1 cube in a MBLD attempt this is kinda silly but LETS GET IT), and then I want to do 10 cubes (whenever I actually own 10 3x3s) and maybe 15 next year? The problem is just having enough cubes to do lol

5BLD!?!!: I don't know if I want to put this on myself, but I gotta do what I gotta do..

5BLD success in-comp in 2027

I'm calling it boys

My previous 2026 goals
↓↓↓↓↓↓↓

To anybody who can see this thread (I have no clue how many people can see it so I'm guessing 1 which includes me lol), happy new year!
I have now been cubing for a whole year, and it's been such a great hobby, especially seeing as I'm just getting started. But you know what that means......
My Cubing Goals for 2026
I currently own all WCA puzzles except for a square-1, so I will make goals for all the WCA events that I own.
2x2: Not a lot - mainly focusing on other cubes, but it would be nice to learn CLL because I've already learnt and forgotten half of it twice now 0_0. Once I learn that, I would aim for sub-3.5
3x3:
Realistically sub-12, but I want to aim a little higher for that sub-10 (at home), and a 10-11 second average in comp this year (again, it just depends how my nerves are and also whether I end up focusing on other things as well or not)
4x4: It would be awesome to average sub-40 by the end of the year, but realistically I think around 40-42 will be what I'll end up at. A sub-40 single in comp would be cool though
5x5: Sub-1:20 would be a really nice goal for 5x5 this year, my PB single is 1:29.9 right now but I think if I started practising it properly again, I could definitely get at least a sub 1:30 average in comp this year.
6x6: I don't really know what to expect in terms of progression (because I might practise it more or less than what I initially expect and because I'm still pretty trash right now and the learning curve would be very nice and steep), but easily sub-3:00 by the end of the year, especially once my 6x6 is broken in properly through practise, and if I decide to practise a lot maybe sub-2:45 or something like that.
7x7: Again, just guessing, but I'll be at least sub-5:00, and if I want to practise this event I would want to get around the 4:00 mark probably
Megaminx: A good global would be sub-1:40, because with that I could make it under any cutoff in Australia for this event!
Skewb: Um.... maybe do a little bit of practise? Sub-10 I guess
Pyraminx: Again, I don't really like side events, but I might practise this for sub-7 or something.
3x3 OH: I might get into this event as it's an interesting version of 3x3, and I might aim for sub-22 or if I grind this then sub-20
3x3 BLD: Hmmmmmmm.... well, my father said that if I manage to get a success in my blindfolded comp in March this year, I can choose any smartcube I want from TheCubicle!!! So, I guess an official success, maybe around 3:00?
Clock: I prefer to pretend I don't have a clock

but I guess that because it isn't WCA legal.......

yeah I'm not practising clock

Bye bye!

Okay guys, the comp went very well!!!
I got a couple of nice results - firstly, I had a 2:51 3BLD PR single (and a 2:37 in Round 2), and I got 2/3 (1 point) MBLD - my FIRST EVER POINT!!!

I also used 2 of Charlie Eggins' cubes for MBLD because I only had one without a logo and the rest were UV coated (it's not like I read the regulations or anything before going to compete for MBLD)

And most importantly... 2 4BLD successes!!! A 21:xx and 19:08 PB single!!!! The first solve was just me forgetting parity (again bruh I could've been top 20 in Australia with a 4BLD mean but that's okay!)

This means I am 87th in Australia for 4BLD single!

I have now solved 5/7 4BLD attempts in total, and I am very motivated to really practice this event more. I believe I can get sub-15 just by doing solves regularly, and at that point It'll probably be summer holidays already and I'll have unlocked 2 more hours of daily practice time!

For 3BLD I got a tip to look at Advanced M2 (hadn't heard of that before), and I'm going to learn that as well as optimal OP corner setups to improve my 3BLD. I am also going to start capping my inspection time to 1:30 in order to get that down a bit, as I'm inspecting for waaaay to long and need to learn one-passing as soon as possible (obviously this means learning the letter pairs fluently, which I'm doing bit by bit).

Lastly, if I do indeed get an in-comp 5BLD success next year, there's a high chance that I can come top 3 in a comp, as today only 2 people got a success!
